THIS is a man. More specifically, a 1988 Doug Demuro. And today, Im going to go over his quirks and features, then take him out on the road to see how he drives. THEN, we will give this Doug a Doug Score. Starting with the exterior, this 1988 Doug Demuro comes with a 2-tone color scheme. On the top, a grey shirt with the logo of the "Portland Sea Dogs" on it, and on the bottom, beige pants. An interesting color choice, and it seems to be aftermarket. Further, this model does not come with a hat. However, this is the Sport Model, so this Doug comes with a lapel microphone to record your commentary. That is about it for the exterior quirks, now we move to the interior. Inside, this Doug comes equipped with every option a man would have from the factory. All internal organs are present, however, this one has a a special program loaded onto the brain, enabling it to talk endlessly about quirks and features. Quite a nice option, and a truly rare one from the factory. This option in combination with the color scheme makes this man a unique example, the only one in the world. Now, lets take this guy out on the road, and see how he drives. Doug is not exceptionally fast, with a maximum speed of 25 miles per hour, a bit slower than the average 28 miles per hour of most humans, however, as he has the sport package, he can talk while doing so, and record it with the aforementioned lapel mic. SO, when you are done running, you can upload your lap commentaries, and share it with your friends. Doug's acceleration is decent, reaching his top speed in just 10 seconds, quite impressive. However, due to a bad evaporative cooling system found on all humans, Doug can only keep up his top speed for a few minutes, after which, the top speed drops drastically. Doug's handling is impressive. Like all humans, he can turn 360 degrees on the spot, can jump to clear low curbs or speedbumps, and is able to move using his arms as well as his legs. However, what sets this guy apart in the handling department is his ability to fit into rear seats. Doug can cram himself into even the smallest of rear seats, the most impressive being the rear seats on the 996 generation Porsche 911 with hardback sport seats. Even the smallest guys often cannot fit into those rear seats, however, Doug did. That concludes the driving experience of the 1988 Doug Demuro. And now it's time to give THIS guy a Doug score... Starting with the Weekend Categories and Styling, Doug is ok but not beautiful and the cheap clothes don't help, so he gets a 5 out of 10. Acceleration is fine, considering his height (6'3 or 6'4/unknown) and he gets a 6 out of 10. Handling is only ok, sometimes he can't handle special purpose cars plus he's a little tall and not athletic so he gets a 4 out of 10. Fun Factor is high, especially for who he izz, and the 2 T-shirts bump it up a point or two, and he gets an 8 out of 10. Cool Factor is high too, he is probably the best reviewer among other KZbinrs and he gets a 9 out of 10 for a total Weekend Score of 32 out of 50. Next up are the Daily Categories and Features, he has a lot of weird/interesting quirks and features and he gets a 7 out of 10. Comfort is top notch, this guy is really comfy and relaxed and he gets a 9 out of 10. Practicality is low, he isn't practical at all, he even uses his iPhone to record and he gets a 3 out of 10. Quality is mediocre for the class, this guy just doesn't seem quite well built and he gets a 4 out of 10 Finally..,Value...Doug is worth watching, but he's "depreciating" fast considering he's only 30 and looks like 40 so he gets a 5 out of 10 for a total Daily Score of 28 out of 50.. Add it up and the Doug Score IZZZ..60 out of 100 and here's how he stacks up against rivals...

@HistoryFan 88 Except it's not. The A/C evaporator fails regularly and you need to remove the entire dashboard to replace it. That's a $1,000 part. The pencil coils fail all the time. Those are about $125.00 for the good ones and you need 12. Also these cars have a unique master cylinder with spool valves for each circuit and they stick. That's an Aston only part. Last l check it was $5,600 exchanged. The problem is when they stick it resembles a bad caliper. So unless you're an Aston guy or having a aston guy work on it, they'll probably replace the calipers 1st. Thermostats are terrible. Those are $250... The rear ends are touchy and fluid needs to changed religiously every 30,000 miles.

No one talking about how the car colour is called "Ferrari grigio titanio" in the owner's manual???
@NoGoodHandlesComingToMind3 жыл бұрын
It's an actual Ferrari color. Many luxury brands have an "anything you want" color option and some clients opt for colors across other brands. It's possible that the original owner had a Grigio Titanio Ferrari and wanted his/her Aston Martin to match it. Specific shades of colors is actually an interesting niche in the car community. Some colors are famous for varying reasons and a few even have their own enthusiast base. Porsche is especially known for this. They have various shades of bold, light blues such as; Mexico Blue, Miami Blue, Pastel Blue, Bahama Blue, Arrow Blue, etc. and some enthusiast owners will pay the roughly ~$10k Porsche charges to get a color from outside their standard offering.

Realistically you could do an oil change on the DB7 Vantage yourself. Might need a jack to drain the oil and change the plug, but the filter is changed through the engine bay. Most work on the DB7 models is actually quite easy and inexpensive to do yourself with a little bit of knowledge.
@AM-he6je4 жыл бұрын
Jeff, Sorry but this is completely wrong! These cars are probably the easiest cars to do an oil change on or change anything on. If you ever get your hands dirty with a db7 or Db9, everything is there at your fingertips. I would agree with you on your statement if you are referring to the V8 Vantage and the V12 Vantage. A fun fact about the Jaguar connection is that the DB7 was originally going to be called the Jaguar F-Type and was designed to take cues from the classic E-Type. But when Ford decided the car would be better suited as an Aston, the designer simply took that design and put Aston Martin logos and a grille on it.
@ThePhotographersGarage4 жыл бұрын
Hey, seller of this Aston here! It was great to work with "The Douggernaught" to get the car listed. He didn't even assault me when we met! Not even a little! I also generally agree with his over all assessment of the the DB7 over all, 'cept I'd give it another point or two in the Value segment as these are a TON of special for the money. It's easy to nit pick the parts bin components when you're looking over the car, but once you drive it around for more then an hour, you never ever think about it. Not once when rev matching the V12 and 6spd (itself a Borg-Warner T56) do you ever think "Oh boy these Ford window switches are really detracting from the driving experience.". The car is greater then the sum of it's parts, which is what makes it such a good buy. Check out the auction listing for more photos and video of the car, or if you just want to check out the quick walk around and drive videos beyond what Doug has here, check them out on my "Channel". I knew a guy who owned a cobalt blue DB7 up in Juneau, Alaska, he bought it brand new in 2003...I remember askin why the top of the motor had a signature on it, and he said that was mechanic who built the motor start to finish...anyway, the motor quit for whatever reason, and Aston Martin literally flew a specialist to Juneau to figure out what was wrong with it, and while there, the owners wife left him and he ended up injecting a .357 Mag projectile into the side of his head when the mechanic was in his garage, working on that car...I felt bad for the mechanic, he didn't sign up to deal with that mess....car was beautiful though....🤷🏻♂️🤘🏻🇺🇸

This Aston has so much in common with my Jaguar XKR. I'm going to list make a list: Door mirrors Key blade Handbrake/parking brake Sun Visors Ignition switch Wiper Stalk Turn Signal Stalk Arm-rest Culp Holders (worst cup holder's ever, it is more efficient and comes off as less of a surprise to your passengers to immediately dump your drink directly on their lap or the back seat. The cup will fly off of the cup holder at acceleration or turn of above 0.2g.) Window Switches Chassis underpinings/origins (my Jag's chassis is more modern, updated, and advanced than the DB7's) The floor mats seem to have the same shape but I'm not 100% certain on this, but I think the floor pan is shared, so they very well could be interchangeable. Seat belt buckles look the same and probably are. The trunk lid mounted third brake light assembly is the same as in convertible XK8s and XKRs. And no Doug, Aston didn't come up with that design. It was originally a Jaguar design, XJ41-coupe and XJ42-convertible prototypes) that Ford shelved because the project had grown too expensive and deviated from its original vision. Then Aston picked it up, essentially only changing the front bumper, tail lights, and some other small details such as reflectors, door handles, mirrors, etc. The XJ41 and XJ42 were going to be the original F-type way back in the 90s.

The deepest irony of this car is that even the engine is based on the Ford Duratec V6 (itself, based on a Mazda V6). No shame, however: those origins made it strong and reliable.
@AM-he6je4 жыл бұрын
Shane, that is completely wrong. Only thing used from the Duratec were the pistons which were over designed due to overheating issues the Duratec guys had on their initial design. The pistons were then over designed and more than sufficient for the V12 during the time of development. The "rumor" that Astons v12 was a duratec is just that a rumor and is completely false.
@shanehnorman4 жыл бұрын
@@AM-he6je A solid challenge, John. I did say 'based on', which I think is permissible. Although block, crank, and camshafts were AM's design, it wasn't just the pistons that came from Ford, but also the con-rods, valves, and rocker arms. And why not? Why eschew good engineering for the sake of pride?
