Just a little info about the different versions of the R34 GT-R 1. The “standard” GT-R: it was the base version (if you can call any version of this car basic) 2. V-Spec: The one Doug reviewed, as he said it added a rear LSD and also an improved ATTESA system, stiffer suspension, a new splitter and diffuser. 3. V-Spec N1: Homologation version, stripped out of any luxuries like radio, A/C and carpet. 4. M-Spec: the “luxury” version, similar to the V-spec with leather heated seats and a stiffer rear sway bar. 5. V-Spec II: Similar to the original V-Spec, with upgraded brakes, even stiffer suspension and a carbon fibre hood with a NACA duct 6. V-Spec II N1: Homologation version that is even more stripped out than the first N1. 7. M-Spec Nür and V-Spec II Nür: The last 1000 of the R34 GT-R’s, upgraded with larger turbos, more power, a 300 km/h speedometer and a different color for the cam cover. 8. Z-Tune: The last variant of the R34 GT-R, Nismo bought 19 used GT-R’s to build these since the production was already over and they stripped it all together, the car ended up producing 500hp with a replaced engine called the Z2, Nismo also replaced the brakes, wheels, bodywork and suspension. Only 19 Z-Tunes were ever made, including 2 prototypes

@@rdfdsv yes there are 2 midnight purple Z-Tune, though I forgot the chassis number I think there's also CRS trim and it's kinda released at 2019, though I dunno if they sell it as upgrade or sell it as full car. It was using several engine upgrade as option 500hp RB26DETT F-Sport, basically similar power as RB28DETT Z2 but I dunno if it's same 2.8 as Z-Tune or still 2.6 FYI if you're loaded then you still can buy R34 from Nissan / Nismo via Skyline Restoration Program. But the program cost 400k USD without car, so it might hit 500k if you request Nissan / Nismo to provide the car. And that's just the starting price, it will go expensive quickly if you opt upgrade such as engine (RB28DETT Z2, RB26DETT R4, RB26DETT N1, RB26DETT F-Sport R), paint (Midnight Purple, Silver Z-Tune) and others. But at least it will come with 1-year warranty Also in FAQ section, Nissan / Nismo say it's possible if owner want to upgrade trim to higher trim (such as non-Nur to Nur or higher) but they will not re-register it so there will be no another Z-Tune or CRS or Nur even if you opt for fully Z-Tune upgrade and engine. I dunno though if they can upgrade from basic trim such as GT, GT-Four or GT-T into GT-R Sometimes Nismo also selling cars that's already ready in-case you're loaded and hate to wait if there's available units, but currently only R32 at the moment, hopefull there will be R34 in near future. Interestingly if you see it at Nismo site, the model was changed into "NISMO Restored Car" instead say "BNR34 Z-Tune" and model year also changed to "2019" instead of say "2005". Probably that's why Nissan / Nismo stated that they will not re-registering

5:25 I think It’s also important to note, there are multiple versions of midnight purple. It destroyed the traditional touring car heavyweights from Ford and General Motors, winning Bathurst in 1991 by a whole lap, and recording the fastest-ever time of 293km/hr down Conrod straight. In one race I saw it go around other vehicles with two wheels on the grass and still overtake. It was so dominant the other manufacturers influenced the governing body to outlaw turbos and all-wheel drive, effectively banning the GT-R from competing. That same 'Take my toys and go home' attitude among Australian car manufacturers and auto enthusiasts led to the demise of the entire Australian car industry, which became a dinosaur.

It's one of those cars that people think is beautiful only because it's hyped up and they want one. Not because it actually is. @@80s_Boombox_Collector The car looks 10 years younger than it is and it might not be as pretty as an NSX or RX-7 but if I may, I think the R34 GT-R is cool in an understated way with an aura of stoicism and pedigree that the other cars of its time didn't have. Strong, prominent body lines, functional and not over-stylized aero parts contribute to its aesthetics. Right hand drive is my preferred side because I’m right handed. It splits the body into right hand controlling acceleration , braking , steering while the left side of the body handled clutch and shifting. I’ve driven plenty left hand drive, and it’s fine, but the body and mind takes more time crossing over sides. Just my feeling. But, I won’t argue. It’s like an argument over circumsised or intact. I agree to a point that games like Gran Turismo definitely helped the popularity, but I don’t think that was the sole reason it’s so famous. I think F&F also helped it, and when KZbin and social media came along, and JDM fam groups started to become more mainstream it started to take off. Espcially in the Tik tok era. Combine that with not being able to purchase it, drove the hype up even more and thus causing the demand to rise and the price to rise as well.

Did he forget he already reviewed this car, and gave it a very shameful 6/10 for styling? (At the same time he's given boxy vans and station wagons higher scores.) And, for the record, the Nissan Skyline was not "made popular" by video games and movies. It was put in video games and movies _because_ it was popular. The Nissan Skylines were extremely popular for more than a decade before they were ever put into games and films. They were all over Import Tuner magazines and were massive in car culture ever since the mid 80's, and all throughout the 90's. By this same (flawed) logic you could say The Dukes of Hazzard "made" the Dodge Charger popular, or that Knight Rider "made" the Trans AM popular. Just ignoring the fact that they were both exceedingly popular before either of those shows aired and would have been even if they never did. It's just that Skylines weren't sold in the U.S. so, while they were all over the car magazines, you couldn't buy one. That didn't stop everyone who was into tuner cars from being fully aware of them, though. Cars will become popular as long as they're great cars. It's just how it works. That's why the many generations of the Skyline have always been popular. Car culture is a real thing and it's always been huge. It didn't suddenly become huge in the late 90's because of The Fast and the Furious. That just made the percentage of know-nothing, poser, ricer people bigger. People who put gigantic spoilers, and a cold air intake, on cars with 120hp and think they're awesome. Sure, those movies turned some people into real car people but it's a small amount added to the massive pool of car culture people that already existed. (When I say real car people I mean people who actually know a thing or two about cars. Not people who have a poster of a particular car because they think it looks neat and has a cool color.)
@diablow1411 Жыл бұрын
11:50 actually that wasn't really the case. A Gentlemen's Agreement was made in the late 1970s in Japan that they'd never exceed showing 180 kmph in the cars made in Japan (140 in case of Kei cars). So even if the car were really fast, they'd be obligated to keep the limit to show 180 kmph.
@whaky6294 Жыл бұрын
I believe what makes the car so special, aside from its presence in numerous games and movies, is the synergy between its performance and its generally simple body shape. It it doesn't look as flashy as Supra, NSX, or Eclipse. It is a sport coupe, but it looks like a Japanese full-size sedan with a shortened greenhouse. A factory-built sleeper, so to say. But that's just my opinion and that's one of the reasons I love Japanese cars of the era.

I'd dare state that the R34 is to the 90's what the Countach was to the 80's It came at the end of the decade, fairing very well far in to the 00's. It had the cocky 90's attitude that is being very retro while at the same time being very futuristic, while at the core being very rebellious. It was impossible not to notice since it was prevelant in the paper stands, in the game store shelves, the car meets and drag races, the movies and well, basically everywhere. And I never ever met one single person who didn't thought it was absolutely stunning.
