Being an Audi owner, I know what the little U-shaped tool is that you found in the rear cargo area. It is to remove the lug nut covers on the rims. The actual chrome lug nuts are covered in plastic cover overlays to keep the lugs clean and rust free.

That thing that is labeled as "abdeckkappen" is an included little tool to remove the wheel bolt covers. There should be a designated place for it along with the other tools. I can't imagine the Audi does not have that place so I'm a bit disappointed they didn't take it out of the back and place it where it belongs.

@@cmd85 it is has been cleaned and such, all the protective stickers and covers are removed, the wheel bolts have there caps installed, it has definitely been worked on to get it from transportation to this state. Thats why I'm disappointed in the fact they just threw that thing in the back. I see the same shit at work as well. yeah... It is not meant to be a racing car... It is designed and meant to be a luxury SUV which it is.... one thing I notice Doug did not mention at all is it does not have standard tires on it... the tires on the Q8 for sale here are least are speed rated Y which if memory serves correctly means those tires are rated for 300km/h ( 186 mp/h ) and also means they are expensive not that it matters if you can afford the car you can afford the tires... But i thought it was worth mentioning. I got the impression he liked the Range Rovers. But, I would never touch one. They have reliability issues. certainly do here anyways know two people who have had Range Rovers and both had issues of varying degree's with their vehicles.

about those touch screens replacing traditional buttons....I have experience with different brand that when was really cold outside, when I got into the car, started the engine touch screen did not work so I wasnt able to adjust airflow etc.

benediktmarquardt i dont have all the details but for example the European Q8 taillights do a very cool “dance” when you lock/unlock the car. The cup holders in front also have a cover so that they can be hidden to match the rest of the interior. As well as some little things that doug mentioned like the rear indicator differences

It looks so crazy right?! Pretty sure that's how most cars are going to look in a few years. Once accustomed to the layout there is no denying that those touch screens are more efficient than clunky and ugly buttons everywhere. The size of the area where you need to tap to select or adjust whatever function you need is greatly increased too since only the functions you need are displayed depending on the section you are on making said function easier to tap especially on a bumpy road. I do prefer a knob only for the volume though. Nothing is more annoying than having to keep tapping a button or touch icon to lower the volume for a bit then keep tapping again to raise it back up also especially on a bumpy road. You can hold instead of tapping but that either takes too long or the hold scroll is too quick which I end up tapping away anyway to adjust it exactly where I want it. Even holding the volume down button or icon to mute on most systems is not as easy to use than doing a quick turn or press of the knob. You could also just grab the volume knob to adjust it without taking your eyes off the road to look for wherever the mute or volume down button/icon is. You can also rest your fingers on the knob to help stabilize them while adjusting the volume which is helpful because with the buttons/icons on a bumpy road your finger will be bobbing around as you try to hit that exact spot you need to tap which you will miss sometimes unless again, you take your eyes off the road for the few seconds it takes you to adjust the volume where you want it which is a few seconds too long. Long story short; knob for the volume, touch screens for everything else.

JDMricist I can tell you haven’t driven a lot of cars, if any... Cars with touch sucks! You can’t keep your eyes on the road while using the system, because you can’t feel any difference between screen and screen. Switches and knobs is quality, touch is cheap.

Thanks Doung, Audi Q8 is choice for people who go moonlighting and knowing that when you come home the GPS deletes the last route destination. In between visiting misstress locations and home, you stop by scenic rest areas, off course with amenities like rest rooms, you got to think about your day. Good on Audi Q8 designers to think this ways. They already think and experience before it comes into productions.

Hey Doug, you’re awesome, but the people can unlock the doors in the back seat. You just have to open the door twice. The first time you pull the lever unlocks the door and the second time opens the door. You also made this small mistake when you reviewed the RS3

I came to say this as well. Audi simplified the design since having a separate unlock button is unnecessary when you can just pull the door handle. It won't open the door when the car is moving but if you are stopped, it will unlock the door.

The "Abducken" plastic u piece is a tool to help remove the plastic caps over the wheel lug nuts without damaging the caps or your nails. It's provided with most Audis. Also, on all Audis but not many people know is that the handle that helps you lift the floor in the trunk can be used as a hook over the trunk lid rubber liner to keep the floor open while taking out/putting back tools etc.
