0 is even. A number has to be even or odd, it's a binary, so by definition, 0 can't be neither or both. The definition of an even number is "a multiple of 2", 0 x 2 = 0, therefore 0 is a multiple of 2 and is an even number. An odd number is a number that can't be divided by 2, 0 ÷ 2 = 0, therefore it can be divided by 2, therefore it isn't odd.

also if 0 isn't even, you lose some of the nice properties of odds and even numbers - "the sum of two odd numbers is even" and "the sum of an even and an even number is even" stops being true in all cases. So yes, very much even.
