Ok, i have to admit, the ai generated dialogue in this game was way better than i expected it to be. It actually felt like I was listening to a bunch of people improv lines, which is way better than AI conversations I've seen before. That said, I'm only about 7 minutes into this video so far.

I'm fairly certain what's happening behind the scenes is that the dialogue is mostly (maybe even entirely) irrelevant to what's actually happening in the game. While the characters might respond to the things you say, I doubt you could actually say anything that would change the story, and I suspect if you already knew what the story was you could just skip talking to anybody and go through the plot of the game without talking to the AI at all (the AI only tells you where to go/what to do, but if you take those actions without talking to the AI the story would probably progress the same way).
