It's probably the neutrality he would bring to the table. In most debates, you get the sense that there's a motive to everything, and the people asking questions often seem to frame their questions to make incumbents look better or worse. They probably just feel like he'd be impartial.

As a russian german, who has family in ukraine that flet to here I can confidently say that the guy complaining about russian music was overstepping. He didn't say it was because it was glorifying russia that he didn't feel comfortable, but that it was russian music in general that makes him not feel welcome. Saying you don't want the country currently invading you glorified is reasonable, saying every bit of russian culture is "not okay" is not. I hate to tone police and I know he was probably just emotional, but if you can't handle something there is nothing wrong with stepping away for a bit. That said I hope he is doing alright. the TTS message at 2:10:33 actually isn't that far off from reality. In Rome, long ago, they considered a large brain to be much more attractive than a large penis. So all the statues of the great warriors or noble men (like the Statue of David, for instance) were depicted with small penises.
@Porook Жыл бұрын
It wasn't really a matter of sexual attraction. Romans built their statues with small penises because the cultural belief was that large penises were barbaric and hedonistic, while the penis of a respectable and virtuous man would be smaller.

I disagree with the ethicality of AI art just like humans artists use art that they see from other artists as inspiration for their art all the time, but when an AI does it it’s totally not okay. To me it kind of seems like a double standard because art as a medium most of is displayed publicly for free for people to see and if people can gather the same information so should the AI. But that’s just my personal opinion. However I do understand it’s within the artists right to dictate how and even who should see their art even if that is to some degree marginalizing, but not every artist is against this and we shouldn’t treat it as if every artist is.
@Porook Жыл бұрын
The thing is that the AI isn't taking inspiration. It has no brain, it has no sentience, it can't be inspired. What it is doing is analyzing art to build pattern recognition models to replicate it. It's a copywrite issue and AI companies shouldn't be able to train their models to copy whatever art they can just find. It's the same thing with ChatGPT though, honestly. It's trained on a bunch of copywritten content, expressing knowledge that's only in this or that specific book or article. But Chatgpt can't think, it just regurgitates in new patterns and the original work gets no credit. I don't think that's right when the AI model is making profit from someone else's labor, giving them no choice in it, and only existing because of that taken work.

If AI art is unethical, wouldn't then the entire concept of "fair use" be unethical as well? I mean essentially it's about being able to use other people's work without their permission to create something new.

Within limit, like how you can play part of someone else’s song without credit or compensation, for five seconds (or a percentage of the work if it’s longer), so essentially yes you can use a small percent of art, but to say you deserve full use of a work because the work exists would be an uneducated statement
@shisaye8392 Жыл бұрын
@@bellofbellmont8206 The 5 second nonsense is not what actual fair use law says. That's an arbitrary rule by KZbin. You can use the entirety of a work as long as what you made from it is sufficiently transformative. (What that means exactly is ruled on a case by case basis.) Also It is impossible to extract the art an AI model was trained on from the model because It never stored a copy to begin with. They would be several terrabytes otherwise. A good metaphor would be someone looking at art and then trying to sketch it from memory.

That's how I feel. It's not as though an artist simply makes art without some references.

Don't see the issue with AI art. I can also see an existing image and paint a similar one. Its still my painting.

Thanks Doug. As a conservative a I agree that many of us are the good guys. It's the other side that are not good and the evil guys. D: Okay serious topic time, I think AI art is fine. It's not very good and very abstract. For the time it's not abstract, it have many part which is very wrong and very AI like. Many of the good AI art are from multiple rendition not just one click and go. And even then it's still very far from perfect. I think if you are going for chaos, funny, jank atmosphere AI art is good but if you want to up the standard, funny in a way that it is chaotic but have very good high quality pieces then artist is the way.

Doug said to be respectful and you’re saying “it’s the other side that are not good and the evil guys”…. What are you thanking Doug for, the point flew over your head entirely if you label an entire side as literally evil………

AI image generators are tools, nothing more. Zero artwork is contained in their models, just information for how to determine what makes an image a certain image. In short? It's on par with drawing using other art as references, which is valid fair use. Keep using AI art, Doug. If someone is scared of it or complaining about it as an artist, it isn't an ethics issue but rather a fear of losing potential work as an artist. Fear is not actual loss, and the demand that other actual artists that use AI as a tool be barred from making said art is an actual ethical conundrum. The actual hard answer to the AI 'issue' where artwork is sampled from the Internet in general? If you don't want your art sampled (by a human or by a machine) then why did you release it for free on the Internet? That's... just how fair use works. Again, NO ARTWORK IS USED BY AN AI MODEL. The models reduce art into the actions and details that make a given piece unique, which is exactly the same thing a living artist does when studying other art for practice. There is nothing unethical about using freely available references to improve your art quality... period.

hey just wanted to reply to your comment as someone who sells their art and posts their art online... for me and a lot of my art friends I don't think our biggest concern is losing out on work, moreso the idea that anyone can take our works, put it in a generator, and then call the image that they made their own. It takes years of work to get to the point where you can call yourself decent at art, so it's a little bit upsetting seeing people enter keywords and then say that they are artists... as for the posting on the internet portion, i think as humans its in our nature to want to share stuff we've made! would you tell a singer to not release a song they made because someone may rearrange it a little and release it as their own? would you blame someone for getting mugged because they brought their wallet with them when they went to the store? AI art 100% uses existing artwork, lots of people have been attempting to recreate certain artist's styles by feeding the generators that person's art. when i draw, i don't photobash a bunch of other artist's works together to create something new- i draw it completely by hand! i dont wanna argue + i respect what you have to say!! just wanted to share my thoughts since i think these things are interesting to discuss rather than simply ignoring people with opposing opinions :)

"The models reduce art into the actions and details" So what you're saying, is that the Artwork was used by an AI Model to obtain that. AI art in it's current form, I personally don't believe is okay to use for profitable use, unless it is exclusively being created using art from Consenting Artists. If that's not sufficient to make a functioning Art Algorithm? Then you shouldn't have one.
