My heart breaks for those kids. From my experience both personally and professionally, parents who brag how good they are are usually clueless to the damage they are doing. Usually, these parents have either troubled childhoods or they have under treated or undiagnosed mental health issues. Next, when the children grow up and escape the family home or develop psychological problems, the parents often blame their adult children exclusively. These situations often leave the adult children with trauma that gets passed to future generations. I am grateful that Josh and others are trying to point out how damaging parents like Lush are to the most vulnerable children.

What does she mean she never does anything for herself? She gets her nails done and goes on multiple vacactions a year. Every anniversary, Valentine's Day, etc they go out somewhere and leave the kids. She often says, "I bought this dress for myself". She just said that the other day when she said she forgot the bag with her new dress in the store, and as a result needs to but it again. She walks around "with 12 kids" with a full face of clown makeup every single day. I have 2 girls. They are 23 and 20 now. When I was bringing them up, I rarely did a full face of makeup. My time was spent on them and with them, not staring in the mirror for an hour everday doing my hair and makeup. Her idea of never doing anything for herself is much different than mine.
