The problem is she gets vocal applause despite this... I've only watched 6 mins so far but it seemed to absolutely typify the issue with the West. Objectively rational arguments made by DM elicit scorn, while vacuous but 'happy clappy' remarks by Davina get vocal applause. It's got an element of Western self-hatred thrown in, perhaps with the misconception that 'self-deprecation' about the West is virtuous and therefore inherently correct (regardless of the actual facts). It's the path of least resistance to opt out of having to consider the facts, while feeling virtuous.

The problem with Iraq today, was not caused by getting rid of Saddam Hussein, but in the dismantling of the Iraqi Republican Guard, who kept stability among all the different tribes. There are around 150 tribes in Iraq and when the Republican Guard was dismantled, they began fighting each other to see who could take control of the country. Once the Republican Guard was gone, they could never put together another army or a police force that could control the uprising. There were 30,000 Iraqi soldiers and 30,000 federal police in Mosul being attacked by 1,500 ISIS fighters, some say less, and in 6 days, after massive desertions, Nuri al-Maliki had the Iraqi soldiers retreat from the city. ISIS took over the airport and the city displacing 500,000 citizens and setting all the prisoners free. They eventually took control of about 40% of Iraq.
