Recorded in Fiesole, Italy, on May 29, 2024.
Author and columnist Douglas Murray has spent much of the past few years reporting from battlefields in Ukraine and Gaza. His reporting on the harrowing conditions in those wartorn locations make his journalism a must-read. In this wide-ranging conversation, Murray describes what he has witnessed, why the West must ensure victories in both wars, and his reaction to the campus protests across the United States, as well as his views on the upcoming British elections.

Just watched this !!! thank you for this privilege, from Israel. "The age of grievance is over and will be over with an age of courage and heroism". Beautifully said. May it become true. As we Jews say: "From your mouth to G-ds ears"...... Or whomever is listening. Thank you Douglas Murray. You are a breath of fresh air and the voice of reason, morality and Truth. May you be blessed always.

as an immigrant to the US myself, it's a precious thing to be able to live with my culture and the society's embrace of it, and with life in which I get to integrate into it as an American. But I would never for one second want the American society to be morphed into something that forces my religion or customs. Everyone is free to come to it and become part of it as much as the native born citizens. But the essence of the country that allows it to be a desired location is the fact that it is a Western civilization that facilitates that desirability. Immigrants should not demand the West to adopt and force upon everyone which rendered their countries of origin a place they wanted to emigrate in the first place.

An extremely high-level interview from start to finish. Douglas Murray is a rare gem from this time of great turmoil. Erudition and modesty, an ability to listen and learn. His words are of a strength seldom seen. The ending is apotheotic. I am grateful to the interviewer and to the Hoover Institution for making these videos available.

What an awesome interview with a man that has the courage I almost never hear, see, or encounter anywhere. Speaking from a family with several living veterans. THIS MAN. How lucky we are to have him. I agree that something is coming - to England, for sure, where I live - and I for one am ready, like those amazing Israeli/Ukrainian women. I would almost welcome it. Terrible though it will assuredly be. Because we can't go on like this - and pretending that we can go on like this.... living through the death of our civilization.

My personal favorite anti-Israel argument is the one about Jews being ethnically European and not Arab and therefor they don't have a right to live there. The first person I heard making it was a mixed race (black dad, white mom) American girl who was very very stoned at the time. She could not see that she was arguing herself out of existence.

Thanks to this channel and thanks to Douglas Murray. You are the voice of sanity in the see of intellectual madness and moral degradation. It would be very interesting to hear an analysis about how this all came to be. Is it Wests fascination with Post-Modernism? Is it something else? And the most important - How can we reverse it? How to change minds and souls of young generations?

A little advice, Hoover Institute: You make great content - however your thumbnails really aren't competing. This isn't the first time I have almost missed out on a great video because the thumbnail has been so unappealing. There's a few different ways you could change things but at the very least it being made clear that this is a one-on-one sit down conversation with a fairly major guest would be a start. I'm not being overly critical, just trying to get more eyes on your content.

Of the commonalities between the Anti-Vietnam movement of the 60’s & 70’s, I’d suggest one is that for many it is simply empathy & being presented with the harsh realities of war… but another of the commonalities is that the most vocal activists are ideologically aligned with the opponents of ‘the west’. “Aligned” rather than holding the same ideology…the communists that helped the Islamic revolution in Iran soon found out how different they were from their erstwhile allies.
