The design was so thoughtful, I was sure there would be a spare flint somewhere in there. Saw the spare fuel talk and thought "oh well, that's fine too I guess". The reserve-reserve flint caught me by surprise.

Price is subjective guys. Had one of these for about two years with the smooth body in brass and I think it's great for occasional use. Only criticism is that the flame is a bit too deep inside the storm gaurd to use for some tasks even though it doesn't look it in this video. I have tried adjusting the wick and such and no luck. It's an easy think to get around though. At the end of the day it is an expensive novelty, if that's your thing, awesome and even if it's not don't you dare try to tell me you didn't think this was awesome before you heard the price.

How's the Field-S 4 years down the line? the cap and wick cup came apart on me and I just never got around to sending it in for repair. It's just a glorified zippo at this point and the fuel evaporates as such.

Nice review. Love this lighter. I’m not a smoker but keep one as part of my EDC kit. Great for sealing ends of paracord, etc. Question: where do we get spare parts (flints, etc.)? As an aside, I’ll be in Japan in the Spring and will be looking at picking one up there. Thanks again. Edit: found the parts on Amazon, duh.😉

If the lid doesn't close how do you change the setting on the ballbearing ring? I have read that somebody did it but didn't specifically elaborate about it. I'm afraid that I will brake it. Is it a clockwise or counter thread? What instruments are suggested to use. Looks very tight to me. Thanks for anybodies advice!
@MrNothotenian
@MrNothotenian Жыл бұрын
Meanwhile I found out something! The users manual says that you just have to oil the lid ring, but never mentiones what to use. I tried some oils (coocking oil, WD 40 etc.) I found out that the best is to use oils which are used in air-cooled engines. My friend has a Harley. I dipped a piece of cotton swab into it, put it on the ring carefully, so that the sparkstone doesn't recieve any, waited a day, dipped it again! Never had that problem since! It doesent matter how hot it gets, it closes. One more thing! I didn't just swab the ring but I rotated the ring around its place, on the metal.

WORST experience ever with a manufacturer so far. Mine came defective. The lid wouldn't stay close and always popped open. That was an issue with a tiny ball bearing securing the cap. After several tries, All I had as a response from the seller was that the lighter was just fine and the problem was with me. Horrible customer service to say the least. Mine sits in a drawer, useles, afetr two monts of light use. I cannot say anything positive about this brand as I found myself talking with a dishonnest person who didn't not want to take ANY responsibilities for a defective item. On mmy side, I paid with real non§defective money and just received a piec of garbage for it. Thank you , but, no thanks.....

So is the Exotac Titan light, but I'd still love to have one of these. As long as you screw the cap down on an exotac and treat it like you do a Zippo as far as safety goes, that thing will hold charge well over a year. Fewer O rings too!

Zippo could take a couple lessons from this lighter I've always thought that zippo could put a small tube on the opposite side of the current screw to hold spare flint. Same thing with the flint that touches the striker. This lighters got a way better design because the spring isn't exposed. Idk how they would add spare fuel but I always seem to run out and forget to refill it. If zippo would add some sort of seal to the bottom of the insert. I feel it would last a little longer. I know you can buy them but I want zippo to do it so that the insert will still sit flush with case.

@Heikki_Finland
@Heikki_Finland 4 жыл бұрын
Make sure the wick is correctly set inside, going through the container with cotton all around it. If you have bought it second hand, consider replacing the wick and why not the cotton too because if someone has tried to burn other than dedicated fuel in it, unburned residues may have blocked the fuel flow. Using Zippo brand wick would give peace of mind.
