My grandfather was a carver his whole life, I have shelves filled with his characters. He passed away before I was old enough to learn from him. I’m on my 4th carving now thanks to your videos. Thanks for helping me achieve this goal I’ve had my whole life. Thanks again!

i spent the hours before the super bowl carving this one along with the Dougman...i really thought i could not do this...i followed carefully...and kept at it...got it all roughed out...after hours...im up to the hair and face only...i didnt want to rush it...and mess it up...i really see the figure revealing itself now...i think im going to break KZbin from "rewinding" Doug's awesome video so many times. I just want this one to come out good. I will continue tonight...can't wait till "quiting time" from work...which i now call "carving time"! Can NOT thank Doug enough for his patient and clear teaching...i hope he realizes how much we luv 'em for who he is and what he does for us!

Doug, you’re right about people watching your tutorials even though we don’t whittle. I like them as much as bushcraft and fishing. I don’t do those either. And after I watch I can run them again whenever I want to listen; while I’m working. You have such a relaxing soothing voice. And who cares if they run long❄️thanks Doug

Doug...what i like about your projects is that they don't require a bandsaw to rough out...you start from a block of wood...just like many of us have to...THANK YOU! Tutorials like this are just SUPER for us newbies!

Doug, I love to watch you make your little people. Because of you and your wonderful teaching I have started making some also. My frustration is my knives aren't sharpe enough. I started with Basswood but it is too hard, then I have been using balsa wood which tends to squish. I have bought a knife and the sharpening tools but now have to learn to sharpen my knife. You make it look so easy to cut pieces off. I hope to one day to be able to make some beautiful carvings like you make. I know it will take practice, practice, practice. Thank you again for your wonderful teaching videos. Ellie
