I've trapped a lot of people with this type of hand. Wesley won't fold AA under any circumstances, and that's why he's never going to have what it takes to win the WSOP. This is a cash game, yes, but he would play it identically in a tournament. When your opponent actually concealed QQ or 7-8s, you'll wish you hadn't snapped called just because you have aces.
@babarhead6956 Жыл бұрын
@@RobbieStacks90 who did you trap
@californiaplant-basedeater2761 Жыл бұрын
@@RobbieStacks90 Francisco was face up here. He looked genuine weak, reluctant the whole hand, genuinely looking at Wesley to see what he was doing. Wesley snap called because he was sure, and his hand even improved on the river, and his antics of being a nit aren't to be believed, imo. Unless you've seen Wesley in a tournament you shouldn't count him out. He seems pretty smart, reading situations accurately. Not sure why you are bringing up WSOP, anyway, tbh. Edit: I hadn't even seen Wesley's explanation at the end. He said what I said, here, basically... did you see it? He said they had history in these spots, and he said he figured Francisco would think he was bluffing, and it played out like that through the river. As to why Francisco thought he needed to bet the river to push Wesley off a bluff... he probably just changed his mind and figured Wesley did have something better.

Wesley's explanation was on point and he referenced that Francisco is a certain type of player with whom he had history. I think that is the key to how he played the hand. very well done.
@ticenits1926 Жыл бұрын
Wes's explanation is pretty applicable to anyone in the general pool though. Check raising top pair makes no sense whatsoever because you could always be up against a set or AA. And then to raise the turn and jam the river is just plain awful. Nobody would ever take that line with any high value hand. Fran was basically just bluffing the whole way through trying to force Wes to fold, which is even worse considering you dont need wes to fold when you have TP. You're either way ahead or way behind already.
@JYLee-rr1sy Жыл бұрын
@@ticenits1926 raising the preflop raiser w/ a mere flopped pair is indeed not great play but thats what Wesley meant. He knew what Francisco had because that's what he does. On the other side Wes admitted he rerases with nothing all the time against Francisco. I think that's what played into this hand. The context and history is imporrtant. It's like a bluff within a bluff . It's meta poker at another level not level 1 obvious stuff.
@ticenits1926 Жыл бұрын
@@JYLee-rr1sy oh I get it, Wes knows 90% of the time he can do this as a bluff but recognized this time with AA he might actually get called which he did. I was criticizing Fran's play to continue to push TP this hard to the point that he's effectively just bluffing with it, but he's in a spot where he doesnt need to bluff hence why the hand just turned into nonsense and he got stacked for it. This was borderline J4o level of play.

Fantastic analysis Doug. However. Poker is all about how you play the player. Francisco’s jam there didn’t make too much sense. He’s telling Wesley he is bluffing both the flop and the turn with a 7 or telling Wesley he had a set or Q7 on the flop? It is also important to know he’s playing against Wesley. Francisco’s facial expression and demeanor at the end when the river 7 came out really told Wesley he didn’t know what to do with that river… so he jams and SNAP-CALLED. 😂
