Although nothing said affected any action possible, other than Yang actually getting away because he knows Mariano has AA, I could see how someone may have thought something weird was going on especially if you didn't speak English. This is the EXACT reason why you must speak in English at the table because imagine the other way around, Mariano is in a tough spot vs Yang and Han and they're next to each other whispering in Mandarin then you'd prolly be alarmed a bit. I'm actually more curious as to why Yang keeps looking over at Han as if to ask him what to do. He looks over at least five times as if he's awaiting for advice. Han DEFINITELY thought something weird was going on as he left the game immediately after the hand when the game was still going on. He visibly looked frustrated or angered and he said something to Double M but idk what was said. It didnt help that Han was stuck 200k so I'm sure it crossed his mind that maybe something was going on all night. Sick hand either way and of there was EVER a time to dump KK then it's this exact spot for Yang.

@fortunx Жыл бұрын
Rec player here and curious if my basic take is correct....So Double M goes all in for about 250K. Now Yang has a decision. He has 55K committed with Mariano still to act. So...1) He HAS to put Double M on KK or AA. Has to. This means that if he calls and Mariano folds that he is, AT BEST, going to win about 28K (minus an unlikely 4flush) or because it is more likely that Double M has AA , since he already has KK , is WAY behind to lose another 200K. This is the BEST case scenario if Yang Calls!!! ... 2) But, if Yang calls and then Mariano calls (Mariano has, after all, already committed 55K) then it is FOR SURE that either MAriano or Double MM has AA. There is no way Double MM goes 250K and Mariano does as well without one of them having AA since neither does this with even QQ or AK suited....3) The third scenario, folding and losing 55K, obviously sucks but seems by far the best move and leaves Yang still up 100K for the evening. I get that Marianos commenting might have thrown Yang a bit, but still, it seems his best decision is quite clear, not even close really. Have I got this about right?

Yep you do and Mariano shouldn't be talking during the hand he knows this you shouldn't have said what he had it could influence his Yang decision plus who knows him and the other guy could be backing each other it just looks Shady to Yang and he doesn't speak English and then the dealer wasn't honest about what was said when he wanted to know also it's kind of an angle to act weak like he said what the f*** is going on here blah blah blah when he has Aces when he hasn't called the all-in yet just bad etiquette all around

Here's the deal. After Dario got felted, he borrowed $40k from Mariano (who graciously offered). Then, Mariano asked the concierge for $50k (presumably to replace the 40k) so that he had a bigger stack. This is why, even in this clip, you hear Mariano say "I have 50k behind" because he wanted MM to know he had more chips than what was showing. (MM says "well, you still cover me anyway") What I assume, is that Nik Airball loaned Mariano the 50K in chips (off camera) and when the concierge shows up with the 50k, he tells him to put it on Nik's stack (for immediate payback).

I can’t help but think about the Coleman/Seiver AA vs 99 hand when looking at this one. Different here cause there are three players involved, but I always think about how you said in the Coleman hand how it is nearly impossible to be balanced this deep in 5/6-bet pots. I have to say I am really not a fan of Yang’s 5-bet or DM’s 6-bet for this reason. They are playing their hands face up as even some of the best players will not construct 5/6-bet pots with enough bluffs to balance their range. It is impossible to play well when your range contains 2, maybe 3 hands, as it does when Yang decides to 5-bet. Amazing analysis as always, just thought I’d drop my two cents.

The reason you pick A5 over A10 is the straight combos of A5 don't intermingle with all the other Broadway Ax Kx hands so you get slightly more EV as you're not chopping when you hit a straight (unless it's literally 10/j/q/k and they have A) and all your straight combo's aren't blocked by hands like Ax Kx with another Broadway card or KK QQ etc. like they are most of the time with A10+ in that situation. A10 will loose against Aj+ if just an A rolls out no different than A5 will, just you pick up the extra straight EV down low with A5.

one thing about cash games I've learned to think about is how it's all dependent on ONE run out, if the money goes in and you just happen to lose that one time, it's done, with all the bets preflop and you're sitting there with Ks, just one guy with an A and it flops essentially kills your hand, nevermind the possibility of someone just having aces preflop against you. That deep in chips there's an argument that it's never worth it with Ks against 2 possible opponents that keep reraising the pot multiple times.

Does any place have a rule that you must tell a player in the pot what you said to another player?
@DaftFader Жыл бұрын
Most places (cash) it's if you speak to a person in a hand about your hand or reveal a card whilst they are still to make a decision, the whole table is to be made aware so no one player has an advantage over any other if there's a third player left to act in the pot (it's the same rules as accidental shown cards most of the time). Some tournaments (like WSOP) forbid you from talking about your actual hole cards till the action is completely over. The difference here was MM was all in, so he had no decisions left to be made. If MM had said something back to Mariano about what HE had, then it should of been told to Wang, as Mariano was still in the hand the whole table gets to hear (which is why he stayed quiet).

They were lucky this hand probably played out how it was supposed to, but it very nearly didn't. Even then, if they intended to tell Yang what Mario said, they messed up due to the dealer's misquote, and imo they messed up in the decisions to tell him in the first place. It's only by shear luck the dealer didn't hear Mariano fully and misquoted him that the hand played out normally. Also a ton of people are gonna think it was intentionally ignored too. What a mess! We'll know if this one goes down too, although I doubt Doug would pull it even if they tried.
@MelodyMaker Жыл бұрын
@@DaftFader Kuhn's video returned for a period of time yesterday but now I see it's been taken down again after I and another deliberated on the topic yet again in a thread. Your commentary touches exactly on the sensitive nature of the hand. If the dealer was compelled to share with Yang what was said between Mariano and Double M in confidence but messed up the quote.... one would presume that she did so because house rules or general poker rules prevent communication between players in confidence at the exclusion of another player in the hand. The obvious material representation made in confidence was that Mariano exclaimed that he had aces. I suspect that the dealer omitted the part about the aces in relaying what was said between Mariano and Double M because she did not hear that part but her action by relaying some of what was said would indicate that rules required her to do so. Now this omission about the aces obviously proves relevant given Yang's call. Hustler should have taken pause with the hand prior to Yang's action in calling off his stack given that Yang showed some concern along with the reaction of Mariano which seemed to show a rush to get to showdown.
@DaftFader Жыл бұрын
@@MelodyMaker Yeah, I agree, this seemed like a rushed decision and they should of taken a pause, spoke to both mariano, MM and then Yang one by one indavidualy off camera to find out what happened and then proceeded. Hey Doug, ignore the nay-sayers. Bill Perkins is an interesting first match. One) 100K is cocktail money to him. He can shove on marginal hands without a thought for the money. Two) Unlike top pros, he has no reputation to protect. He doesn't have to worry about being mocked by other pros if he makes a daft move. Three) Pros deal in a world of variables. If you add up the first two points, Bill is a radical. Unpredictability can confound a GTO player. We've all seen an amateur wreck a pros head. While the greatest likelihood is an easy win against a guy who is inclined to punt it off, you will have to think about patterns of play that set up the trap, walking him into a false security. A lot of flatting might be best where you would otherwise raise and/or vary your bet-size. I'm not suggesting how you should play but I am suggesting that Bill Perkins does present a different kind of challenge.

Hey Doug, what a lovely moment, that you would take the time to reply to me at all. Needless to say, you have teased my curiosity. Sorry that I can't What'sApp you but I don't have a pocket-computer-phone. I'm not a technophobe as some people are inclined to call me. Quite the opposite but it's a different set of technologies that interest me. I'm presently trying to raise the funds to do a KZbin/Podcast channel - Talking Reason - my daughter is going to manage the posting and the social media - anyway, the first series that I've written is entitled, The End of Global Warming, where I lay out the critical path for solving global warming based on the technology that we have now. I have a huge reveal for the first episode. While it hasn't been played out on mainstream media, we are in the early stages of a paradigm shift as a result of a radical evolution in nanotechnology - too much to explain in this format. NOW, for a laugh, I have been playing tournament poker as one possible route to gaining the funds for the channel. In a few days, I'll be playing a satellite to try to get into The Irish Open - I live in Ireland - but this is how I came to be a subscriber of yours. I tune in for the strategy talk. Anyway, poker brother, it's pretty much this or email. Wishing you nothing but good health and good hunting - to you and yours - and thanks again for sharing with me some of your time. I'm genuinely humbled.

There were a number of interesting decision points in this hand, but I do know one thing. Anyone that flats the 55k like Mariano has with AA has a history of running silly good in giant pots. Ultimately I think your goal given the action is to get someone to stick in 250k with KK, and I have to believe it is easier to get them to do that than risk a dangerous flop. Unlike a typical 4bet online flop, a wet flop contains any A/K/Q or the obvious 3 flush, QJx, etc. So truly safe flop probably only comes 20% of the time, think shoving the aces is best in a vacuum.

I like this video n how u digest it Yes Mariano try being nice to tell MM he got AA , but like u said , with this type of action preflop , MM probably know he might up against Aces too , no need Mariano to mention , playing 700k pot , MM cannot wait 10m plus to find out , with this much money in the middle , Yang look 😵💫, like wtf r they talking , Mariano been playing so long and this is a huge pot , he really should of wait for his turn to act. Also , they been running it twice most of the night anyway , that not because he try to be nice or what , he run a 10k pot twice with Dario too , I hope Mariano at least apologize to yang Cuz Yang don’t know he got aces, he might think if he call MM all in , Mariano might fold too ( cuz Mariano can have QQ or AK suited with the preflop action ) Beside MM was down all night , Yang might think his KK is good head up vs MM

I feel like from Yang's perspective, that little "conversation" might had an impact in him making the call. As doug pointed out, he might feel like something shady is going on, for example Double M and Mariano collaborating to take his 5 bet away. Which we all know is not the case given everything, but putting yourself in Yang's shoes, he has kings, he thinks something shady is going on...

Not really, double M is already all in, he cant do anything after ripping it. And another problem is why tf u playing on this table if u cannot speak english. Just cuz he cannot understand, any conversation can be seen as "shady"
@韭菜日记-z4z Жыл бұрын
@@yuanpochang2844 brah, he can understand English, he just didn’t hear what Mariano said in low voice to doubleM. If you were in a three way pot you are not suppose to talk. There is a reason for that.

Right, because he totally stands a good chance of being squeezed out of the pot with Kings, not to mention the fact that he’s going to get to see their cards so if one of them shows up with J4 maybe then he has a valid complaint. Otherwise he’s clearly just trying to angle for some free info.

Double M was already all in. They can talk to each other and what Mariano shared with Double M had no impact on what Double M since he was already all in. Yang should have already known something was fishy already with those overbets going back and forth. It was a tilted showing by Yang and great sportsmanship by Double M and Mariano.
@DarkTruth1 Жыл бұрын
@gotspeed_ you're oblivious if you don't see the angle. It's the 3 comments and the way he over reacted after doubleM went all in and before he told him he has AA. Everyone missing this is mindblowing to me. Like they're all in on it... crazy🤯🤯🤯 You're not suppose to speak out of turn, EXACTLY for this reason. This is so obvious to me I can't get over how people miss it. Sure I get some minor acting here or there, but Mario was speaking very loudly and clearly, he definitely shouldn't be uttering a word about the hand. Order a drink, that's fine. Talk about hand in any way in a huge spot like this? Obvious no...

Yang is a fool….it makes absolutely no difference to anything MM could have said to Mariano or Vice Versa after MM was all in. In fact it could help Yang if anything. After it was up to Yang to call or fold for $250k….any info Yang could pick up would only help him. MM could’ve secretly said to Mariano that he had KK and it would’ve been to no help to Mariano at all….but to Yang that info would be of immense importance. Yang is an idiot and that’s why he went broke.

I would be of the mindset, UTG 3 way with pocket aces is necessary to simply flat. Any more I think might change the math, any less you have to raise, but 3 way it’s necessary to flat for EV preflop.
