Your comment is as dishonest as this video. Berkey has never been involved in a crypto marketing scam that a 10 year old could see was crooked. Admittedly Doug was just dumb, I doubt he knowingly promoted a scam. But this fued is because Berkey turned down Dougs invite to play airball on a lodge stream because nothing was in it for him, and honestly since the lodge has recently featured airball and Robbi they have firmly embraced business with lowlife people. Doug is trashing the reputation of the lodge with this nonsense because his feelings are hurt.

Berkey's business model is shit, he always plays devils advocate on every poker topic but he is not a "criminal" in any way. Nor has he ever shown himself to be sleezy. His intentions are good, its not 4,000 for poker out loud. Thats for if you want to play on their show, its an experience not training and that one guy was in a sense cheating in that he was playing on his friends account but there's been much worse than that. I say this cause it's important not to call certain players cheaters or criminals just because their personality is awful or their opinions are flawed. I like Doug but these feuds that he constantly instigates may be good for entertainment and youtube drama its imo terrible for his brand that he has worked so hard to establish. Doug Polk has been the vanguard for the future of poker and one of the leading authorities in bringing clarity and accurate information to all news poker related and videos like this stand out from his regular content.

Lex Veld makes an excellent comment about this video. Doug mocks "Poker Fraud" for playing J 4, but the game was J 4 = bounty. This was left out, while when Tom Dwan punts off way more money playing 7 2, that is clearly explained. I think Berkey is a reasonably smart and well-spoken individual. I've watched a lot of his content and he seems pretty genuine. But I also think he's not an elite crusher like he sells himself to be. He's definitely an above-average thinking player, but he's not on the same level as the truly elite cash-game titans. He gets into big games because he has private backers willing to buy the majority of his action. As far as his "solve for why crew" - there's not a person in that squad that I feel is a good poker player, ambassador, or person. Maybe Landon, possibly, but the rest of the crew are clowns. Their podcast is almost unlistenable with their asinine gibberish. I'm surprised these are the people Berkey chooses to surround himself with, but maybe that speaks more to his character than it appears on the surface.

Woah, $4000 is insane. I'm active in the sportsbetting community, and something we're aware of is that if someone tries to sell you picks (which you should almost never buy, by the way, as it's so unlikely they even have an edge to begin with), you have to then profit enough to generate value after considering the investment in those picks. They would have to somehow have a huge edge in order for you to actually be able to get some profit after buying those picks, in the long term. This reminds me of that. You'd have to get so much better at poker after doing such a course that you'd be confident you'd win more than $4000 dollars extra that you wouldn't have otherwise. That's a pretty big improvement for casual players where a $4k profit for the whole year might be considered a good year.

I think casual fans watching Doug's video here without any context are going to immediately side with Doug here since trolling and online beef is entertaining. But the 2p2 crowd or anyone that's seen Berkeys podcast, which is what prompted Doug's video here will see through this. Berkey explained quite well on his podcast how Doug is trying to align himself with HCL due to his business interests with the lodge and a shared player pool. That's part of the reason he platformed nik airball to trash garret and Berkey the way he did, since those two are now considered competition of HCL, and thus the lodge. Berkey released the text messages that paint a different picture than what Doug claimed in the airball interview. Berkey wasn't scared of HU, he just wasn't eager to hop on a plane and play 200 hands of HU live poker. He mentioned he's available to play nik anytime in Vegas as long as he wants. Seems Doug is just using his KZbin channel to try to push false narratives and trash competitors. Even as I was watching the video I was confused why such the triggered response, so I had to track down Berkeys podcast for context.
