He left his own wife and kids just so that he could get stronger which is super selfish and irresponsible, still wasn't satisfied with that so he desired for more power by becoming a demon just so he could surpass his little brother because his ego couldn't handle that he was just more gifted than he was. His selfishness caused the lives of a lot of people in the demon slayer verse, he was filled with greed and envy.
