I really respect someone who can treat these birds with as much kindness and care as you've shown here. A lot of people think doves and pigeons are throw away birds which I simply don't like at all. I love just seeing someone willing to work with these guys like this.

awwwww! lovely dovelies! I have white homing pigeons. My white breeder hen Esmeralda is so tiny, slightly bigger than a dove. odd for a homer, but she is so gorgeous. they are really really inteligent, and they make me happy.

I was wondering if you know how to train a dove to fly back home if you want to let it outside for a bit to stretch it's wings. When I was younger I used to have two albino doves (1 male and one female which eventually became three doves). The male dove managed to get out of his cage and was gone for like 3 or 4 days. One day I came home and he was in my backyard. He let me pick him up and put him back into his cage. Since then I've been interested in how to effectively train them to do this.

i am about to buy doves and i'm not sure. can all doves be trained to do the same thing? i want to use the doves in a performance where they fly out, come back and possibly hover (is that possible with a group of doves?) how do i train them all, just one by one? please help.

Start by teaching them to eat out of your hand, and you need homming piegions to return home.

This is what you said and I quote ''the darker or brown the dove is the more wild'' noooo your ass is wroooong... And I bet you anything that if you release your dove outside it won't comeback on command ... :) but trust me if people can teach a diamond dove to return to them you'll get there with your albino doves!!!

Leo F. He is wrong about the color. The color doesn't matter of a bird.. its the same species. But his doves that he has had for a while would most likely come back. They stay where they know that they have food and water. With doves and pigeons there is no need to train to come back. Dave Shemara's outside aviary broke and his doves flew into the trees but came back, and they certainly weren't trained to. They'll come back as long as there is something worth coming back to.

with my day. Then when I get them back in their cage they both shake and face the other direction. I'm trying so hard to be a good mom and making every experience with my hands a positive one but I am failing miserably. If you can do a video or if someone reading this has some sort of an answer. PLEASE me and my doves are desperate.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting my doves to like me and want to be around me. I've had them for a little over a month and a half and I try to take them out of the cage but putting my hands into the cage when I'm not refilling water or food they get so skittish. so they can get some exercise and just be out of the cage. When its time to put them back into the cage they act like they're afraid of my hand or me so I know this is probably bad mommy but I grab them off of the floor so I can go on
