I'm 16 years old and my brother is 24. My mother and Masi is looking a girl for my Masi's son. My brother heard them one or twice talking on phone about girls and how they judges those girls. One day my brother shouted so loud, he said "bas karo yaar mummy, aap log pagal ho kya. Kisi ladki ke baare me essa kaise bol sakte ho aap wo essi hai wo waisi hai. Mummy aapko bhi beti hai usko kisine sawla ya chhoti hai bola to?" He suddenly stopped, he thought that I might have got offended, he came and apologized to me. But I was not offended but proud.

And then his mother rejected me again...then my parents asked the reason then her mother replied that your daughter is not beautiful and she has scars on her face. My mother gave her explanation that she had lot of pimples when she was 20-21 for 5 years then what his mother replied why didn't you stopped your daughter when she was scratching her face at that time. My parents were stunned and hurted I just want to simply request to all the boys and his parents....please don't insult a girl and her parents on her looks. One time I just get to know about meeting 2 hr before they came so I can't get ready, I had oil in my hairs so I just made braids. But the lady said I am not the one in the picture. The girl in pic is someone else and she don't want to get married because she had an affair and I was just a replacement. It was my birthday and she told all this to my parents and I was listening because I was standing just behind the curtain. And one other time a guy family wants his whole joint family to see me. They already came 2 times and they wants to come again to judge me. It was humiliating. I used to think karma is real but I guess it's not, because all those people are now happy without any guilt. Don't we have such "Not so good looking" friends who are happily married or in a happy relationship?? Majority of Indian society never discriminate or judge based on outward appearance. I personally know so many good looking boys earning handsomely getting married to so called "Not so good looking" girls and treating them like Queens. And those minority who judge outward appearance judge both genders. Don't good looking girls judge boys??Will any good looking girl get married to someone who looks like Rajpal Yadav? These people just love to generalise and divide people. That's it. If good looks are the only criteria for a Happy marriage or relationship, 90% India will die unmarried, single and virgin

A dark person can have beautiful face cut, beautiful eyes, beautiful lips, gorgeous hair, glowing and healthy skin which might not have looked prettier on a fairer skin instead. You think these things don't happen in love marriages? The only difference you're seeing here is in arranged marriages, someone might actually say it to your face why you're rejected. In love marriages, they just subconsciously know why they're rejecting you but they won't tell you. Arranged marriages don't take away the choice of a person. You can still decline if you don't want to get married to someone. Tell your parents they're trash for wanting you to marry someone against their will. Half these problems come from the fact that the parents are controlling and abusive, then it is the parent fault for being this way.

A boy lives in the house next door to me( I'm 13 only) he's a year younger than me. One day as I was going to school I heard some girls talking about him and here's what they said: have you seen the boy who lives next to to Isha? He's never gonna get taller is he? He's been the same height since 2018. He looks so short infront of my brother who is a year younger than him. And then her bf said: why do you have to say anything like that about him can't you mind your own business? And then they had a huge fight and then they broke up. This tells us that men are supportive to men but women they are not supportive to each other at all. Women are discriminated by women themselves. It's time to change. We need to change. Something big starts with something small. If we'd be supportive to each other then there would be lesser casses of depression, sucide, etc. I'm not saying that men are not supportive to women I'm saying that women are not supportive to women. Yeah you are right. This gender expectations suck. For both and men and women. For women it is hard to not get judged for there appearance and for men the same. For men if you're not hot and cute enough, you aint gonna survive your youth same goes to women. No one wants a partner Who is not good in appearance and who is a straight minded career guy/girl. Infact i got judged by my appearance and my economical issue. You know if a men don't have a strong economical status hes doomed.

Most of these facts are plain untrue Corset was invented by a woman named Roxy Caplin. They stayed in trend for about 20 years, by which time they started declining in popularity. It was never a must but definitely a beauty standard back then. Make up was invented by ancient Egyptians. Queens, yes queens such as Cleopatra, the one who conquered Egypt and married Julius Caesar was one of the first ones who started colouring their lips and face to appear more glamorous. She didn't do it for any man. She was the most powerful woman in Egypt. Men bowed to her. Caesar traveled to her to make an alliance. Besides which, make up isn't exclusive to women. A lot of men, especially Rockstars and film actors use it. It's a part of societal beauty standards and men alone don't make up those standards. For instance, the perception of buff, slim males being seen as highly attractive and preferable mates isn't something men invented. It was chosen by the society to be an ideal male figure and it still is to this day. Fat men are never or rarely ever accepted as heroes in movies and hosts in TV shows for this very reason. The only ones pressuring women to wear make up is other women. Men don't care as long as you take a shower every day and keep yourself hygienic, fit and healthy. I can't even tell you the first thing about make-up as a man. I don't know anything. Don't give in to peer pressure and cut off contact with everyone, guy or girl who pressures you into putting on make-up. Chinese foot binding was definitely an atrocious thing to do. And I will concur it was imposed by men. Girls covering their head has different reasons in different religions. In Hinduism, north Indian women started covering their heads during the Mughal invasion so as to not get abducted by rapists. In Islam, the Quran dictates women to cover their head/body in public. I don't know much about Islam but my friend tells me it is the word of God and their God told women as well as men to dress modestly. So women were to aspire to wear hijabs/burkha in public and were to be accompanied by a man of the family whenever they had to go out.

Once a boy's family came to my house. They started talking about how women should definitely know how to cook even if they don't know anything else. My father looked at them with a smile and politely said, " it's equally important for both boys and girls to know how to cook, it's a necessity not compulsion" I am so proud of my father. Unrelatable to the beauty standard but this is also one of the standards us girls are measured in

Superb ad. But I have to point out one thing. The girl with dark complexion, short height was perfectly shown as it is not in our hand. It is natural. And it is not at all a problem. But the girl who was overweight, she can get fit.I'm not telling just for the outer beauty or she will look good, but being obese is not good for health also. And I'm not only pointing girls out here, boys also should look after their health.Because obesity leads to many health problems which may get severe. It was just my opinion. I'm seeing this ad on tv frequently and that's why I wrote this comment. Appreciation and criticism are welcomed. :):):)

When i was a kid i used to watch dove ads nd always thought that why they're not showing that we can be fair by using their soap unlike other brands nd why there are only dusky tone girls in their ads why not the fair model. But now i get the real meaning of beauty. Kudos to DOVE. Ur ads and motto is always inspiring.

As an independent video concept, this is extremely touching and gives out a powerful message...But as soon as we bring in the brand element into picture, the hypocrisy becomes evident - an organisation that started beauty test in the first place with shade cards/beauty meters with fair and lovely is trying to take a high moral ground here...Just saw Preganews new video-its a gem!

Dove India really like the concept of the video. It is the false concept of beauty we've been conditioned to believe in the name of the our culture. I am sure men too faces issue's but lets not compare thing's and try to hide the meaning of the video. But yes i would definitely want to point out something. It is for the very first time I've seen someone mentioning my state of Assam which is usually ignored because we fall amongst the north eastern India. Thanks for including us. But the thing which has been showed here is not entirely true. In our culture we do not have such traditions. Its very low in comparison to what the rest of India portrays. But again I understand the reason behind showing it. And I would like to request you to first do your research a little on our culture before showcasing it in public. Thank you.
