I like how to decipher laptops. Almost complete analysis without noise and fancy camera angle BS. Just one thing, please include price or and avg price comparison/competition. Thank and kudos!

That was very comprehensive, you didn’t miss anything, no notes there. Also the production value, and editing for time seems just keep getting better, I hope that is reflected in your subscribers in the new year. The only issue I had were your comparison models at the end. I have owned an MSI laptop and wouldn’t wish that customer service experience on my worst enemy. I think for comparison, the only companies out there would be Dell, HP, Apple, and perhaps Fujitsu for Asian markets. There is a 25 to 30% boost in the price for an enterprise level machine, which this is. You are correct on several critical points. Since we have to assume that this machine must be relevant in 2024 when it will go out of service, UHD graphics and 16GB of RAM then, would be the equivalent of a Celeron J series and 8GB of RAM today. Which makes this laptop strictly for administrative personnel, and middle management. The below average battery life, poor camera, lack of upgradability, probably would tend to favor an Elitebook due to HPs superior service polices and 3 year warranty. The Elitebooks lack a lot that the Lenovo has. But those advantages might never be realized given the enduser this would be dispatched to. I would love to see you also review a Lifebook, and Latitude notebook to see how those compare.

Lenovo offers a 3 years warranty for this model. And it depends on the region. Out here in Europe HP is about 400€ more than an X1 Gen 8 even after you spec up the X1. The slim 7 might be a better option though but 16:10 screen ratio looks like the future since it offers better productivity.

Thanks. Love to add more Dell (Latitude/Precision) reviews for 2021 if we can, they tend to be machines we have to buy in rather than loan devices that we get from HP and Lenovo. ASUS, Acer and MSI are slowly coming back (And much smaller scale) into the business laptop market, so going to keep an eye on them for 2021 too. 👍

Best review of the X1 Carbon Gen 8 and I watched a lot! Thanks! Looking forward to the Gen 9 for february with new design 16:10 screen ratio, better speakers and such. What's your opinion on the X1 carbon get 8 vs the slim 7 though?
@Dovecomputers3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, really appreciate the feedback. The Lenovo Slim 7 is a very good laptop in its own right. Perfect for most applications. Especially the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U version. Now a ThinkPad X1 Carbon 9th Gen with 3:2 narrow bezel display and AMD Ryzen APU would be awesome!

I prefer the side power button and it helps leaving the lid down and power on when connected to external monitor. As I seen this in 2022 I am trying to find one with 1440p but still can't get one :(

Same here! Unfortunately Intel have a deal with Lenovo on the X1 Carbon. The nearest model will be the T14s with Ryzen Pro CPUs.
