I passed it on a ferry boat when I was in Europe!! Ok, that port was probably where I departed from. Next time I'm there, I'd wanna go on a tour and also see the lighthouse. Fan Bay shelter looks like a cool place to visit too. Fun to experience it total darkness!! ok, so it's a sound mirror, right? not a mirror mirror. Dang, didn't know there's so much history there at the cliffs!!
@TwoTravelingTexans6 жыл бұрын
Yes, next time you need to visit the cliffs. Maybe wait til the boys are a little older though, you have to be 12 to go in the tunnel. Total darkness was neat and yes it is a sound mirror, it reflects the sounds.

Nice video. We visited on a blustery, rainy day in March. It was a Monday and we discovered all the tours and the castle were closed. We went ahead and hiked a good ways down the cliffs with about 6 inches of mud in most places. It was still beautiful and we really enjoyed it.

Thank you! Yeah during the low season hours are limited but I am glad you guys still managed to enjoy it.

@@TwoTravelingTexans It was quite surreal really with all the rain and fog. We had layers of clothes on so we were able to bear it. Such an amazing view looking out over the English channel on any type of day.

I went to boarding school in Dover for five years in the 1960s. I know the cliffs on both sides of the town like the back of my hand! You can imagine the aerial dog-fights in the blue skies over Dover in the dark days of WW2. You can also see the site where Bleriot landed after the first aeroplane crossing of the Channel. Dover Castle on the Eastern hill and the Citadel on the Western Heights are fascinating. You can also visit Shakespeare Beach where King Lear was said to have wandered around (if you have the stamina to walk on pebbles!)
@TwoTravelingTexans3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips. We did go to Dover Castle. Will have to take not of the Citadel and Shakespeare Beach for our next visit.

Definitely on my bucket list! What an incredible natural phenomenon! Hope I get to go! I didn't realize that you could see France from England..... I mean, I knew that there was just a narrow channel separating them, but I still thought it would be far enough away that you wouldn't be able to see it.

Hey Anisa & Russel! The white cliffs are really epic, this view is really great. Would be amazing to fly a drone there (if allowed). So cool that they painted the lighthouse all in white. Makes it a "white house" 😅 (love bad word jokes). Walking in those tunnels looks really adventurous. Thanks for sharing! Doris & Matthias 🐻

Hi, nice to see you continuing your travels, it's been a while since I've seen the white cliffs . If you are in Kent for a while u might want to check out Leeds castle , also vineyards in that area. Also Arundel on the Sussex coast is a really nice town on the river Arun and it has a castle. Thanks for your latest video.
@TwoTravelingTexans6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. We are back in Norfolk now. I have been to Leeds Castle years ago and it is lovely, would love to go back. I would also love to try some vineyards next time I am there, any specific ones you would recommend? I haven't been to the Arundel but hopefully we can make it there on a future trip.

Hi, actually I have only driven past the vineyards . I drive a lot in my job and see all these nice places then go back when I have some time off but I have seen lots of vineyards in Kent . Apparently English wine is on the up especially with the summer we have had. I hope u keep up the videos and keel discovering the interesting places we have this side of the pond . My next trip is on a boat in a couple of weeks from a place called Benson just outside of Reading , apparently some really nice countryside. I'll let u know . Have fun.

I know Dover well, the castle is a million times more interesting than the one at Windsor. There are remains from Roman times ( Lighthouse), Saxon times (Church),and of course the Norman castle,which has actually seen combat ,unlike its more famous compatriot in Berkshire.There is also a lot of WW1 and WW2 dug into the cliff face.
