I live in Dover Delaware. It has become a haven for gangs and drug dealers migrating here from NYC and Philadelphia. Every day there is a shooting. It’s a crying shame and you’re lucky you arrived on a quiet day.

Sorry I got behind again due to circumstances but caught up now. Great video guys. Beautiful city especially all the historic buildings. Great architecture. The parts you showed looks nice. Clean well kept up. Great job with the videoing and as usual love the commentary and the stats. Sad to say but reading Simon the comments evidently crime is ever increasing and that’s a shame for such a historical place. The legislation house was indeed a great building and the artwork was pretty nice to. A very good looking lunch and hard Togo wrong with fresh seafood and of course good gumbo. LoL. Looking forward to your next videos the rural ones you spoke of more down my line and of course the Alaska trip coming up. Also the big recap will definitely be a lot of memories. Safe trip back to the big D and some well deserved rest. Safe travels my friend. Keep videoing and I’ll keep watching.

About a year ago you were filming in Texas and you were talking about a Bois d"Arc tree (pronounced beau dark). That tree is very popular here in Missouri - it has many names like Osage Orange, Hedge Apple and Bodark. The Indians used to use the wood for their bows because it is tough as iron but bends without breaking. In the fall the yellow fruit falls and can supposedly ward off spiders.

Funny. I thought that was Columbus by the clothing he had on and the hat gave it away. I was never a big history buff in school and I never thought Columbus hit that far north I thought he landed in Florida. Must have been thinking of Ponce de Leon. I had mentioned my grandson is stationed at the Air Force base. I wish you would have footage of the base. 😮 He said Dover is blaring. He wanted to travel and his buddy got transfered to Alaska. When you get to Norfolk, you need to spend more than just one day and more than one video. My husband was Navy and spent some time in Norfolk. I enjoyed Colonial Williamsburg. It's touristy but historic. Then there is (senior moment) Washington's residence. For me. The California girl watching the sun come OUT of the ocean rather than to be setting into the ocean was a thrill. I'm easy to please.😊

My cousin has lived for most of her life in Dover. Her father was career Air Force, and Dover was that last place where he was stationed in the early '60s, and then they just remained there after he retired. For the most part, it's a nice city. There are a few high crime areas, but if you know where they are and avoid them, it's fine.

Thank you for another lovely virtual excursion that affords us a look at US history. Dover is a charming city, and like most of the Eastern seaboard, we can see the influence of England in its architecture and city infrastructure. In case no one has mentioned, the bas relief that you wondered about is Christopher Columbus coming ashore. I live in a small city named Columbus and we used to have a huge statue of Christopher Columbus at the entrance to our city. A few years ago there was a big brouhaha about Columbus not being such a great fellow, and so they ended up removing the statue. We are not sure where it has been taken, but rumors are flying!

DE is (very often) a lovely and interesting place! A magnet now for retirees and remote workers from Philly/DC. There's a huge, wealthy suburban strip now, east of Rehoboth and Lewes (beach towns) that was cornfields and chicken factories 10 years ago. I hope some of this new wealth seeps into Dover and Wilmington eventually. Love the "Politics" sculpture and the Legislative Building in general. Very "homey" and approachable, while also super historic. Have visited/stayed at Rehoboth several times. Love it.

Great to see this. I'm from PA and I've never seen this. It was always a state I was driving through but there's lots of history to see. Love the John Bell house. I'm sure the air conditioner sitting outside wasn't there in 1741! Except for conducting tours I'm curious as to why they would have installed an air con.

Greens are a legacy of the first English settlers. Most colonial cities and towns in New England have Greens. For the most part they are rectangular and centered in the middle of town. Some are triangular and the one in New Haven, Conn is famously squared.

The house at around the 3:00 mark was cool because it still seemed to have the early wavy glass windows. Most of my windows in Holyoke are the same wavy glass. It makes it seem the building was well cared for over it's lifespan thus far. Finding wavy glass to replace a broken pane can be done, but cutting it with the wheel is a major pain because 1 drop or lift and they shatter. It's frequently a pain to replace a pane! The pain in pane falls mainly on the brain (a dumb play on rain/Spain)...
