Mates helping out is what its all about! We bought a 60ft steel yacht in March and have been refitting it so we can head out yonder. We have zero sailing experience but have had so many mates come down to the yard over the past 4 months on the weekends to help out! A helping hand is priceless, even if its a simple thing like dropping by for a chat at lunch! Cannot wait to get on the water and start giving back!

Hi Brian Its great to see a sailing site that shows that the real world is more than T & A! As a builder who has seen everything over thirty years I found it disconcerting to see an underwater opening on Delos being patched with sticky-poo joining to a pipe of unknown material and condition. The basic rule is "keep the mast up and the water out." That means that every hole that is underwater (including when rail down) must have a properly installed thru hull plus interior backing plate and be capable of being closed with a seacock that is threaded directly on the thru hull. No red brass fittings anywhere underwater. No non-reinforced plastic waterline hose in the system below the water. No dis-similar metals in close proximity (stainless ball valves in bronze or brass housings with brass nipples threaded in and closed by rusty steel handles.) I don't see how the repair job you show meets those minimal standards. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen similar, even on multi-million dollar superyachts...... ps: Are you familiar with details of the Amel that sank at anchor in Granada while un-attended about ten years ago? A failure involving the bow thruster as I recall. I believe there was a serious lawsuit around it? Worth looking into the history for any preventive maintenance it implies.
@javahedz4 жыл бұрын
Not everyone would agree, or even know ... but few things are as satisfying as quality preventive maintenance work! The confidence it gives you in your vessel is amazing. Of course, “shite happens”, sure enough ... but the level of knowledge and care that goes into Delos under the guiding hands and expert eyes of Capt Breeyan is worthy of imitation in our own endeavors. Great episode, no question!! Thanks for all you give to US!!! With hugs, Bill G

I'm going to be honest, I didn't know what to expect once Brady and Alex left the boat and it went from being a large crew to being just the 2 of you and the Nugget. What hooked me on your channel, and I'm sure this goes for most of your fans, was the large family/crew adventure that allowed us to live vicariously through your island hopping, nude swimming, moonshine making, party all the time lifestyle. I didn't know if I was going to like the mature, family oriented change with a much smaller crew. I'm glad I chose to stick it out and give it a chance. While I miss most of the old crew, it has been a smooth transition. I enjoy your videos as much as I did before, and I wanted to thank you for sharing your lives with us all of these years. Hello Perry, I have been a Delos follower for some time and needed additional worthwhile sailing content to watch. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. It is SV Zatara. It is an American family and their 4 kids. He does a lot of his own work on the boat, in addition to just watching the family water activities and antics. Take care!

This is such a confirmation for anyone putting themselves out there telling stories for others to, hopefully, live vicariously by. We are with you in spirit Perry. Much love to you and your family.

Brian you might want to check with Keith on SV Zetara, they done a new bottom paint that a father and son had developed and it was totally amazing. After a year or more you could just wipe off the growth with a rag, it's the best bottom paint that I've seen anybody put on their boat.

There are so many amazing things you guys do. One highlight during my binge watch sessions from around eps 100 is the research you put in when visiting any place. Explaining to the viewers where you are and why what you are filming is there. Thus, it’s not only fun to watch but informative, just hope you facts is correct (Ha-ha). We are researching to get on the open seas!!

Dropping off a few good six packs at the yard in the AM. You are not far from our boat. Keep up the good work.

Hello Brian and family. What I like and what I can have from your videos, apart from everything about sailing, nature, etc., is the honesty you aply in all what you all do. Besides, you both are polite, you are correct, and very brave, like the very brave Portuguese sailors that discover and changed the world in the 15th century. By the way, you were in a Azores, were you also in Lisbon? Very best regards and All the best.

It's so interesting to see how much maintenance a boat needs and knowing the results will keep you safely afloat! Sierra is getting so big...Walking soon. You will need to tie her down when you are sailing!! Good Luck and see you next time!!

Hands down one of the best moments of my week, in bed, watching the new episode and getting distracted from the studying I do the rest of the week.
