If you like boat projects you’re in for a treat! With Brian out of commission and not able to do any heavy lifting I take on the huge task of looking after Sierra as well as continuing to tackle our boat work list. In this video we install our new carpets and Brian guides me through replacing our fuel injection system. Our friend Bill from @calicoskiessailing installs new engine & transmission mounts, timing belt, and fuel injection pump and our good friend Ryan hears about Brian's surgery and offers his help for a few weeks.
Cheers and thanks for watching! Brian, Kazza and Sierra

Nurse here, hernias are my bread and butter. 2 weeks of no heavy lifting is too short. You are much more active than the general population. For you, 6 weeks of no lifting over 15lbs would be better. That includes lifting pushing and pulling. A gallon of fluid is around 8.5lbs for reference. The surface of your skin has most of the nerves that cause pain, usually it takes 2 weeks for that layer to heal, however it can take up to 6 weeks for the fascia to heal as that tissue receives less blood flow, the fascia also contains almost no nerves, so you can re-herniate easily with heavy lifting without feeling immediate pain. God bless you and your family. Been following you from the beginning.

what goes around rarely comes around, but the philosophy is sound in any event. We can and should do what we can to help others (within reason) on the assumption that others might do the same for us. But we ought not expect pay-back from anyone. Not because it's too much to hope for but for mental health purposes - so we don't harbor resentments

I worked at Robins AFB as a civilian in the F15 Depot Repair section. We had an aircraft electrician that had neck surgery and lost motion in one foot so that it dragged. They were going to medically retire him early and he was pretty upset. My boss said he could sit in a damn chair by the jet and point and tell the young studs what to do. He wasn't about to let 20 years of knowledge and experience walk out the door. Watching Brian supervise repairs reminded me of that. That dude kept working, he was a great trouble shooter. I was pretty good myself and he was one of the two people I went to when I had a problem I couldn't figure out.

A tip Brian if I may. My dad taught me to always turn the motor over by hand gently at least one to two revolutions once a new timing belt has been fitted or when a motor has been rebuilt to check that the pistons clear the valves etc and to make sure it turns over freely. It has saved my bacon once or twice in the past. Brilliant work on the carpets. Looks factory made. Kazza the mechanic. Well done Kazza. Ryan, you are the man. Thats what she said, HA HA HA HA

Just a fun additional piece of trivia: You talked about using the mizzen for hoisting. You might be familiar with Baltimore Clipper ships (like the Pride of Baltimore). The masts are sharply slanted aft. The tops of the masts were directly above the cargo hatches. Perfect for hoisting. And for some reason the were very fast sailers. Good for evading the British blockades. And a bunch of them were fighting/raiding ships. Great video, thanks.

You got this super Mom ! Technical tip for using the OLD SCHOOL torque wrench - you will notice that the black handle is attached in a manner that it floats on the tool. In order for the required torque to read on the tool ,the handle must be ballanced on that pivot. Meaning NO part of the plastic should touch the metal of the shaft. The scale is set for the handle to be an exact length each and every time. If the plastic hits the shaft ahead of the handles rivit you will get a much lower torque than the scale reads. Learned this 40 years ago from father a aircraft mechanic. CHEERS Steve h.

Some people who give thumbs down are either people who randomly got recommend the videos, or they are trolls who click thumbs down on everything because they are bored and childish hiding behind internet anonymity.

Thursday? I'm so confused. It's been a "rocky road out of the container " kind of day so this was a wonderful surprise. OMG, the "that's what she said" throwbacks at the end sent me back to your older videos.

You probably could have made 5 videos from these jobs. You are a great teacher and now that you are not all over the world this would make great content. For now... BTW splicing old line is really hard. Nice work!
