Ouch! We all learn to say that word pretty early on in life, and we say it all the way through until the very end. Life hurts. Our life span is marked by life sorrows. But our response is what is central to the outcome. When life delivers a knockdown punch, it doesn’t need to become a knockout! Let’s see how Job got back up to shelter in grace.
This teaching is from our series Shelter in Grace: Learning to Survive and Thrive When Life Closes In with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

A grand sermon from a man of God. I'm working hard on dealing with suffering, especially physical pain. I'm not there yet but I'm working through it with my God.

Thanks Pastor Skip. In talking about how pain can either move people closer to God or further away from Him, I was reminded of Charles Darwin, the famous scientist who developed the theory of evolution. Darwin had been a Christian and even was considering the priesthood. But upon the death of his young daughter, Anna, he gave up his faith and went on to publish his famous book, "The Origin of Species", which introduced the theory of evolution. This theory - now taught as fact in most public schools - says that all the different kinds of living things we see in the world are descended from a common ancestor and arose over millions of years through natural selection acting on random genetic mutations. In other words, it leaves no room for God. The account of creation in Genesis and Darwinian evolution are mutually exclusive - they both can't be true. So my point is that millions of people have been indoctrinated into atheism in large part because they believe in the theory of evolution over the Bible - a theory that was born in the mind of a man who abandoned God after losing his daughter.

I can't believe that the ratio of likes to dislikes is so low. The only downside to this excellent service is that it doesn't have the same extraordinary subtitles as one on-line sermon, in which the marauding Sabeans from the Book of Job became the marauding Serbians from the Book of Joe!

I believe that Job had the first recorded case of Lyme disease/ morgellons. It’s not a delusion it is exactly what job went through. He shaved his head because his hair was painful and he had lesions all over his scalp (assumed). Also I know Mark Deluca

For a breakthrough understanding of the Book of Job, read the novel “Where Do We Go Now, LORD? - Burke.” Now, are church & seminary leaders open to higher ground? No? Not much? Well, Moses was. Enjoy the breakthroughs!

Great video! I just wanted to suggest a perspective in regards to what was mentioned about Job’s wife - that she has been labelled the devils advocate and the devils scourge - I think these are really strong consideration considering the whole story - Satan expected Job to curse God with this kind of d of loss - God suggested Job in the first place, potentially because God knew Job would stay faithful - while Job being upright as he was did not respond in the way Satan claimed he would, his wife did respond the way Satan expected - this shows that she was not upright and blameless as Job was - this also seems like a type for Eve in the garden, being the devils advocate in relation to eating the apple first then giving it to Adam - calling Job’s wife the devils advocate seems very fitting.. just as you could say the same about Peter when he rebuked Jesus after Jesus revealed that he would suffer and be killed - all in all though, we’d each likely be guilty of similar behaviours and responses to both Peter and Jobs wife, yet we’d all likely be the devils advocates in those cases also. Thanks again for the video, this really helped me in understanding this scenario in Job. God bless
