Much respect for your efforts and challenges this year. Try to go easy on yourself. I got off trail due to a torn miniscus and went thru a hard time of beating myself up, my wife can attest to that. Wishing u good health will be watching next time your out. Take care

Hi Cindy, this is Pete. I think I last saw you at the Rich Mountain Fire Tower at mile 283. I think we were probably close at times after that but didn't connect. I have really been enjoying your video series and updates. So glad to hear about your progress and plans for next year. I hope to see you again on trail next year. All fine here. I finished the southern half to Harpers Ferry in mid-September. I thought about shuttling to Maine to start a SOBO flip flop, but decided against the idea as too late in the season to be hiking in Maine and New Hampshire. I am also planning to get back on trail next year to complete the northern section. I might pick up where I left off at Harpers Ferry and continue hiking north; or I am also thinking about completing the northern half with a SOBO hike from Maine to Harpers Ferry. Not yet a plan, but if time permits I might then continue hiking south from Harpers Ferry for a compete SOBO thru-hike back to Georgia. Maybe this year was a just a LASH to get warmed up for a traditional SOBO thru-hike next year? I went off trail in Damascus for about a week and got separated from NAPA who continued on. I hiked to Daleville, then forward shuttled to Waynesboro to hike the Shenandoah section with my brother. Coincidentally, NAPA arrived in Waynesboro by foot on the same day and we hiked together through the Shenandoah section and then on to Harpers Ferry. Napa continued on for a couple more weeks into Pennsylvania before getting off trail for the season. I back shuttled to Daleville and finished the section from Daleville to Waynesboro and got off trail for the season in mid-September. I also stayed at Stanimals in Glasgow and Waynesboro. I parked my car at Stanimals in Glasgow so I back shuttled there to retrieve my car and stayed for a couple zero days to finish the season. It sounds like I think I might have left Stanimals a couple days before you arrived? I drove to Arizona in early October and started a SOBO thru-hike of the Arizona trail in early October. It is going really well. I am currently off-trail for a couple days to visit with my daughter and grandson.

hey Pete!! Congratulations on finishing the southern portion! That's a huge accomplishment 👏 and dang, I can't believe you are on the Arizona trail! I am so envious! so the plan for now is to head north from Harper's ferry in the spring. That's the plan. of course that could change 🤣 please stay in touch, maybe we can all hike together in the spring! so good to hear from you. I messaged NAPA but never heard back so if you talk to him, tell him hello! keep me posted on the Arizona trail!! be safe!!

@@thatsamazinggrace9512Thanks! Will do. All going fine here on the AZT. I look forward to seeing you on trail again. I saw Napa in late September at his house in Memphis. I stopped by for a night on my way to Arizona. He showed me around downtown Memphis and the local sights. It was a great time. I think he is planning to get back to the AT for another go in the spring.

Hey Cindy,I know you are disappointed, but that trail isn't going anywhere. It will be waiting for you in the Spring, or whenever you are ready. I'm gearing up to do the area around Pearisburg in a few weeks. Hope to stay at Woods Hole. If you and Joe are going to be in that area doing the Waynesboro to Pearisburg section, let me know. Happy Trails!

Hey Rob! Thank you for the words of encouragement. good to hear from you! I'm not sure about what the plan is yet but hopefully we will get a chance to hike together, if not now, in the spring! 🤞
