Ever since you demonstrated fire straws I have found many uses for this sweet tip. I found that heat shrink tubing is great for sealing the "bottom" of the straw instead of a piece of the straw. Liquids absolutely won't leak out. And it won't come loose after a couple of uses. I know their supposed to be single use but I'm stingy that way. I still have 4 of the first 5 I made. I lost one. Thanks again Blackie. :)

For the Sewing kit, go ahead and thread one of the needles. In a stressful, cold situation your not trying to thread a needle with icy fingers or by firelight

I bought a bag of those milkshake straws, the fat ones, and loaded 10 rounds of .22LR in them. Quick EZ-Loader for my tube-fed Marlin. I carry 100 rounds (10 straws) in an M16 ammo pouch (might be a SAW pouch, it's kinda big) with room to spare for a fire kit and my cleaning kit. Light as all-get-out.

In some of the larger diameter straws you can seal .22 rimfire ammo have stored some in a hole drilled in the butt stock of a 22 rifle as well as fishing items and matches

Please don't take it personally, I like the thought but personally I find this to be just another way of contributing to more pollution - what I do instead is use the same technique for elder or comparable wood, for example. One just would need to remove the marrow. What is also possible: Reaching out to your local sushi bar, they always have these tiny bottles for soy sauce. That might be even worse in regards to the mass of plastic, true - but those are reusable for years. Again, no personal offense but just some thoughts on alternatives. :) Cheers, Ralf
