Tom, love your stuff. You are the reason I love edged weapons. You sold me my very first sword and dagger and enjoy them tremendously. I recommend keeping it the way it is; no need for a ton of fluff. It reminds me of the times I have sat in basements with my buddies, sharing a drink, swapping stories, enjoying tobacco, and showing off our collections. If people do not like what you say, why do they watch? Just watch something else! Great job fellas and of course to Deb, who is always a pleasure to speak with.

Listening to your stories gives us new collectors an impression of the various 'characters' in the hobby. Nothing could be better than that with an unboxing, especially when we are still stuck with Omicron measures such as a curfew, closing of restaurants and bars, new virus 'Schutzpolizei' enforcing mask wearing in public places outside, combined with horrific artic cold weather that descended on Quebec! You guys have it good in the States! What an amazing photo album, I'm glad you have it in your personal collection. I just wish that more descendants or relatives would treasure things like this and pass it down to the new generation. A true family heirloom! What a spectacular set of daggers from that dilapidated box!!! The Imperial honour bayonet is my favorite. 'Vereinigung der Feldzuegeteilnehmer" refers to a Veterans association of those who survived in battle from I. R. 92 during WWI, and as you say was a yearly veterans prize. Painting on your right is great too. That is 'Der Letzter Mann' The Last Man / Survivor. I was just reading the work by Arno Dohm entitled 'Skagerrak' a reprint from 1942, Bertelsmann publishers. Neat!

The skull on the grip of the beautiful stag bajonett is the Braunschweiger type skull, these skulls can be seen on WWI items and shown on photos where the skull is applied to the headgear from Krätzchen(the army cap without a visor) to Pickelhaube and very rarely to helmets(often Freikorps examples). Skulls are traditionally a sign to show loyalty and honor but also to distinguish from the "normal" soldier as a elite soldier like the Leibhusaren.

This is why i take my time to meticulously package the items i sell from time to time, militaria and otherwise. My heart skipped a beat when i saw such atrocious negligence, especially on part of such unique items easily worth over 20 000-30 000 dollars. It was sheer divine providence that none of those beauties suffered any damage during shipping.

I have a copy of that painting called "The last man" hanging in my house up in the Philippines , It actually depicts a real event that took place during the Battle of the Falklands in December 1914 during the sinking of the Cruiser SMS Nurnberg by ships of the Royal Navy squadron. Seems to be a lot of confusion about this picture ,that being borne out by the fact that the original brass plate fitted here is incorrect as to what event this actually depicts !
