Love how involved you guys are with your social media, responding to everyone. This is how you build your brand. Coated two of our vehicles 60 days ago, drove it in the nasty winter rain. First wash was about 6 weeks after coating. What surprised be the most was how the paint felt after wash / dry. The paint was show car smoooooth as if I just clay bar’d it. This was unexpected, I thought there would have been all sorts of contaminates on the clear coat. Well done DIY, you guys rock!

Great video. Thank you for explaining which coating would be best for each scenario and breaking down the meaning of some of these terms. Oh I did want to know more about UV protection on your coatings. Honestly I'm more interested in UV protection than the other reasons for applying a coating. Have you made a video on that subject?
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 7 ай бұрын
Every coating provides minimal UV protection. Unfortunately consumers have been led to believe that oxidation is caused by UV. The biggest causes are heat and oxygen. The coating eliminates oxygen from the equation, thereby resisting oxidation.

Hey guys, appreciate the time and effort here. Ive got a question for Yvan if that's ok. Yvan, you mentioned durability of your 3 yr graphene coating. There's another company that sells a 5 and 10 year graphene coating who youve made numerous appearances on their youtube channel in relation to their coatings and other products. Why couldn't your graphene coating be more durable like they clain theirs to be? Considering waterspotting is a downside of coatings and graphene is marketed to have better resistance to water spots , wouldnt it make sense to improve durability of your graphene? P.s. the guy at the other company has the same first name as your partner in this video :) 😊 Regards and merry xmas
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 7 ай бұрын
Our 3 year coating will last much longer than 3 years, the water spot resistance is what fades. Other companies define durability differently. Some say their graphene is permanent ( as long as you use their detail spray every 6 months.

What about torture test how do you feel about him and do they make any sense? There is a detailing podcast on KZbin and he has a coating that he is getting ready to sell to the market that has been under 20 torture test and it still beads up
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 7 ай бұрын
If the test is realistic fine, we did a torture test of driving through 70 car washes. What some don’t account for is that the chemicals they use temporarily scar the surface, but given an hour or 2 in the sun, the coating heals the scars. Additionally many chemicals leave a residue that can affect beading That’s said, those tests are fun to watch, consider them entertainment, not scientific research.

Which is the lesser of the 2 evils on a ceramic coat after driving back into the garage in stormy weather 1. Let the road film, dirt, and rain water dry on car in the garage 2. Presoak rinseless and spray off with hose/pressure washer and let dry in garage

Hey what is the deal with people putting rinseless in steamers? They say it helps them clean and actually cleans the inside. Some of the steamer manufacturers say to only put distilled water as anything else will add impurities. I do have a chemistry degree and trying to figure out how it could help in the steamer and not clog up. Does it have a really low boiling point ?
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 7 ай бұрын
It helps prevent scale build up
@therealmatthewsmith
@therealmatthewsmith 7 ай бұрын
@@diydetailofficial that’s a nice claim and all but how does it do that? If there’s distilled water being used then there is no scale getting into the steamer to build up. If there is scale and rinseless and let’s say they are encapsulated, how is that going to get this stuff out of the steamer. If I put hard water in a saucepan on the stove and add rinse less wash will it all boil out and leave no scale? Or less scale? Or just rinse less AND scale. Or do the to seless encapsulated scale evaporate at a temperature lower than water and escape first? Typically in evaporation things with the lowest boiling point leave solution first. I think I know how I can find out myself. Hard to believe you never looked into it if you went to the trouble of learning what a zwitterion is. Sorry I’m not trying to be negative or anything just would be nice to hear an explanation if people are going to continue to make claims like these.
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 7 ай бұрын
@therealmatthewsmith the polymers in the Rinseless wash prevent the scale from accumulating by keeping any minerals in suspension. Not allowing them to form a crust in the machine.,
@therealmatthewsmith
@therealmatthewsmith 7 ай бұрын
@@diydetailofficial thanks that makes sense. So it will keep as much scale as possible in solution until the solvent water evaporates leaving behind the scale and the rinseless if the water is depleted? Or if you never deplete it just stays on the machine with the scale if there is no mechanism for it to evaporate or leave the steamer? You know what I’m getting at though? If you have any solution and you evaporate the solvent the dissolved solutions are left behind. Merry Christmas by the way love your videos!
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 7 ай бұрын
Yes, but as soon as it’s rewetted, it goes back to liquid. The minerals in suspension are fully emulsified, they get carried out with the steam.

I have heard that you have a specific coating on the rims, one that is chemically composed of substances that "become like glass" like the old coating, because the rims are not as flexible and are harder in material than, say, other parts of the car. so you can put a "harder" and more chemically resistant coating there. is this true or is it true with modifications?

Question for Yvan: I know you love all your coating "children" equally, but if you had to pick one coating to sell...which one would it be? Another couple questions about The Stack: 1) Does adding the 3 year diminish or mask any of the 8 year properties? 2) Do the water spot/slickness/gloss advantages of the 3 year still diminish after the same amount of time (so that you would essentially be left with "5" years of the 8 yr properties?)
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 7 ай бұрын
C6 Coatings are the top of the pyramid, but DIY Detail is very close. The stack enhances the properties of both. The additional gloss and slickness are maintained for very long , with proper wash techniques and the occasional decontamination. To extend the life of the graphene of the 3 year coating, use DIY Detail Quick Beads every 6 months.

@@diydetailofficialthanks Yvan. I'll give the stack a shot on my wife's car come spring. I'm trying to forget about C6 since it's Pro only! 😢 I recently installed Diamond Body 36 on my car per Levi's recommendation. Maybe by the time that needs to be replaced you'll have some C6 available to the public? I'd happily pay $1000 for it if I could install it myself (even if I had to take training classes). If it's as good as you say it is, I think you'd make a killing in the Prosumer market. Once it proves itself in the real world, I bet the OG types would gobble that up.
