Unless you overwrite every part of your brain that has a wrong memory pattern with completely new ones and/or get surgery to manualy cut the wrong connection you may never truely forget and stop believing even the dumbest stuff. Unless your brain itself comes to an unbiased understanding that certain memories are wrong you can't just easily edit memories you have.

The inductive charging drone 3:18, is my Senior Design project. It works but is incredibly inefficient because of High impedance related parasitic effects and exponentially diminishing power transfer related to the distance from each coil(s). The pro's don't outweigh the cons. It's better to just have the drone land on a charged metal plate.

But wouldn't sharing memories be almost impossible? I'm talking about making sense of the data and converting it to fit with another person's brain-pattern-thing, unless all of our brains are storing memories in the exact same "format".
@kedrednael8 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you wanted an answer as long as this, but I studied psychobiology, so this reply happened. You are right sharing memories will be almost impossible, the data would need to be converted to be interpreted by any other brain. All detailed things you can sense/ imagine/ recall require activation of very specific neural pathways/connections, which are different for every person. long term memories are stored all over inside the neocortex. While younger long term memories are stored in the hippocampus, those also need the neocortex to be interpreted by yourself again. So even if you were able to copy a brain activation pattern from someone's hippocampus to a receivers hippocampus (which would seem the easiest if wou want to directly share memories, though still unimaginably difficult), the receivers hippocampus will have little bit different connections from their hippocampus to other brain regions then the sender's has, so the memory will not be interpreted as the same (it might not even be experienced as any memory at all). I think it is impossible to download specific memories directly into the brain, except if you have enough computing power to map someones brain Completely (and with information about what the person is seeing/ hearing/ thinking about), so you know which neurons/synapses code for what, you can target neurons/ synapses that are functionally most similar to the ones you need to manipulate to generate the memory. I think this would require an insanely thight connection to a computer (maybe with an artificial net woven all through your brain (through the blood vessels perhaps), or a swarm of nanobots). But at that point, it will probably also be possible to run that mapped brain in a simulation, so you would have real artificial intelligence (and as a bonus you have created the matrix). Tranfer of visualizations and verbalized thoughts could be easier.

Downloading knowledge is fundamentally nearly impossible. Simply because of how information is stored. There aren't dedicated 'memory storage banks' in the brain. Knowledge is encoded in varying activation thresholds in neurons, and which neurons are even connected and how many there are varies significantly between people. If you have never encountered an apple and a knife in similar contexts, a vastly different set of changes would need to occur in your brain compared to someone who has used knives to peel apples and cut pieces off of them if you were both trying to download the knowledge of how to efficiently core and slice an apple. The idea of an "outboard brain" though is a fascinating one. Just put together a device which contains "synthetic neurons" and connect it to the brain. It would very likely 'expand into' that increased capacity, especially if done at a young age, no later than puberty. That's one of the major hurdles with brain stuff. In order for it to be most effective, you have to do it to people too young to give adequate consent. The decrease in neuroplasticity and establishment of structures which would need to be re-structured to deal with the new situation causes real problems for older brains. We already see this in cochlear implants. Give a deaf child a cochlear implant before age 2, and they will develop hearing as good as any non-deaf person. Every year you wait, the effectiveness decreases. If you wait until age 18, the person will never be capable of hearing normally, though they should eventually be able to make out a good deal in easy circumstances. I am really not sure how they went through the process of testing such a thing given the hairy ethical issues that had to have been involved. Perhaps they tested on adults, established that it was better than nothing and had low risk, and were able to proceed from there... but what happens when we're dealing with something that adults can't get ANY benefit from? Like if we added an additional sense organ like a camera which could see infrared light. Integration of the two eyes we have MUST occur before about 3 weeks of age, or binocular vision will never happen. After that point, the brain goes a different path and simply can't get back to the place where it could correlate and combine the two images, sense depth, etc. Integration of an additional optical source of information, like infrared light, would very likely also need to be introduced before 3 weeks of age in order for the brain to be able to develop to handle it. This is an issue we're eventually going to have to deal with somehow...
