This is exactly what I'm looking for. I've owned 2 GTIs. I love VW. I bought an SUV after I had kids, and I'm bored AF in this thing. I want to love driving again. Did the research, and the Sportwagen is the perfect combination of size and fun I need. Nobody else has these types of videos. Subscribed. Thank you. Keep up the good work!!

A bit late for this comment possibly but check out jackpoint jackstands. Not cheap for sure-roughly $400/pair..but they have 4 legs when an opening at the base that allows you to roll the jack under them and drop it down onto the stand in the factory jacking location. There is a removable plate that sits on your jack’s lifting point. Jack the car up, slide the stand around the jack, and drop the jack- the plate will seat onto the stand and your jack can safely lower and roll out. They are only about 12” tall but if you require more height, you can always supplement by placing wooden blocks beneath the stands and adding Jack pads as you please by doing that you can easily get another 8 to 12 inches of height safely and it is incredibly convenient.

How’s the heat in the engine bay after driving,I installed a 3 inch dp with a 200 cell cat about 1 month ago,the heat in the engine bay is gotten very high,my look in to a turbo blanket and a exhaust wrap,or I may just take it back off and spray it with high temp paint

Good video. I’m about the do the same install myself. What height did you set your jack stands to?

A little higher would have been nicer, but when I measured, the bottom of the car was about 21-22" off the ground. Enjoy the work and stay safe!

question, about how high off the ground was the car lifted ? I dont have access to a lift so I will have to do this on jacks as well, thanks in advance

It was a long time ago, but I would guess between 14 and 18 inches off the ground

Great job! Are you using 3 ton hack stands, trying to figure out how high you had to raise it.

I believe I was using 5 Ton jacks all around - all though four 3-ton jacks should be just fine as well based on the curb weight of the vehicle.

@@DadWagon So I just finished this job, damn tired :). Got a question about the reducer. I have an Alltrack and it also has a 60mm cat back. So I got the APR 76-60mm reducer thinking it will work. However it is made to butt fit instead of slip fit like the IE reducer. So now I got a huge exhaust leak. Need to figure out what to do next...
@hackingmobility4 жыл бұрын
@@Zharsergey I had to do some creative assembly using some parts found at the local auto store - i used something like this shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/nickson-universal-exhaust-adapter-3-id-x-2-1-2-od-617571/10237509-P?searchTerm=3%22+ID+to+2+1%2F2%22

@@hackingmobility And that reducer isn't leaking? Did you cut grooves into it? What size clamps did you grab?

@@Zharsergey I used the reducer that came with the Integrated Engineering Downpipe (which I believe was for the Golf R) which came with clamps built-in.

Did you have to cut stock exhaust at the back? I can't make it fit with the adapter it makes it too long...
@lukemfross55332 жыл бұрын
I ended up just cutting a bit to make it all fit I think it depends on the kind of adapter you get. Thanks so much for the video was a huge resource on this project for me! And I had a very hard time getting some of those heat shields back in place since the new Downpipe is bigger!
