Yeah there is a dyno mode that turns off the Haldex to run 2wd. Some of the guys use a switch, which you may see on the RS3 platform.

No real reason not too. 90k miles is not a lot these days, and the motor holds up very well. Now, I would replace PCV and a few other regular maintenance pieces just for longevity. But I would hesitate doing a is20.

Depending on how many miles you have on your car, you might want some new mounts. But the IS38 is fine with stock mounts, just put a dog bone insert in. I didn't get upgraded BFI mounts until I went big turbo and made 150+whp over this setup.

My file was on my car well before it was released, when the video was actually made I was already over 30k miles on it. @@SOLOWERKSUSA did you have to roll the fenders? Removing liners or screws or others? Or is to complete stock as far as panelling goes?
@SOLOWERKSUSA4 жыл бұрын
@@sher.ts.604 No everything is stock, screws are still in there, no rolling etc. Only mod was actually the rear, .5 degree camber. Under heavy canyon carving the wheel lip would rub slightly on the inside of the plastic lips. So I cut those down for better clearance. But a rear trailing arm bushing upgrade eliminated that completely.

I have been driving VWs since 1972 and GTIs and my Corrado VR6 since 1983. But in 2017 I got my wife an Alltrack. I liked it a lot and didn't want a GTI with 4 doors, so I bought myself a Golf Sportwagen. I got APR on my 2006 GTI and it is quite fast. But I have no motivation to make either of our VW station wagons faster. If I wanted that I would have got a GTI or Golf R.
@SOLOWERKSUSA4 жыл бұрын
To each his own for sure, this is my 40th plus VW, it's a passion. I have two car seats in the back if you notice, the Golf R doesn't cut it with two kids. It's a Golf R little brother with the Haldex. Besides, still saved money over the R, all this still under $25k with the car purchase.
@drwisdom14 жыл бұрын
@@SOLOWERKSUSA I fully agree. Given the cost of Alltracks and AWD Sportwagens, the Golf R is marked up way too much. Beyond the money the real deal killer for me is the Golf R doesn't have a spare tire while Alltracks and Sportwagens fit a full size space. We use our vehicles for traveling.
