I prefer a key.
@dvader32639 ай бұрын
After having push button start and keyless entry on a vehicle for ten years, having to use a key to start a vehicle makes about as much sense as having to use a key to turn on light switches in a home, needing to use a key to flush the toilet or using a key to turn on your TV, phone, microwave oven or cordless tools.

It is interesting how towing and the key is the biggest point. The purpose of the maverick was to be in a different market then the ranger which does have the best payload capacity in it's class. The Ford Maverick is the bar setter because of Santa Cruz came out after the maverick. The Santa Cruz does have areas that are better than the maverick but you pay for it too. Ford was looking at the whole picture when they came out with the maverick and the Santa Cruz picked a couple areas to run with and total cost and fuel economy is where the maverick does best and why the market says the maverick is the better truck
@PyroSoldat9 ай бұрын
They made the emphasis it cant tow as much, but that is on purpose, Ford is not going to eat up their own Ranger sales.
@scottwestley76908 ай бұрын
and if they make it to tow the mileage would not be as good.but then the people towing with it would complain. I have a Tremor ordered in atlas blue

Brother, I know 6 people with new Mavericks. 5 are hybrids and 1 of them has the 2.0 AWD with 4 k and not one of them will ever tow!!! That’s not who Ford made the Maverick for. They are all my co workers. I bought my 2022 almost 3 years ago and my co workers fell in love with it that they all have one.
@upwardspiral614 ай бұрын
Exactly you always hear what these small trucks lack but they dont lack anything for what many people buy it for and with 40 plus miles per gallon !. For building material, light towing, appliances, Kayaks, bikes, it works just fine.

After test driving a Mav, I bought a very slightly used 2023 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E for the same cost as what you showed here. It is substantially much more refined than the Maverick in almost every way. The Maverick feels like a toy in comparison. All of the features you noted as missing on the Mav are standard on my Ridgeline. I can realistically expect 200-300K miles on the Ridgeline and cannot tell what to expect on the Mav. I would not mind the smaller size of the Maverick and would love the economy, but I need better towing and AWD is a given in northern MI, so I am in the ICE/AWD camp anyway. I could make the same argument for other mid-sized trucks against the Mav also, but the comfort of the Ridgeline (including wind noise), is simply unmatched. The hybrid Mav does fill the (real) niche of people who need to haul light things, don't need AWD, don't demand refinement and comfort, and don't have an extra $10-$20K to spend. Great review, and I enjoyed the spontaneity of the presentation!

Why do you leave off the shipping when you state the price? Can you buy a truck without paying for shipping? I have a 2024 XL and it has more than enough technology for me. In fact, there are times when I wish it had less technology. I have the ecoboost engine and it is averaging around 28 miles per gallon. The Maverick drives and handles very good.
@billquattlebaum1577Ай бұрын
My Maverick XL is now averaging about 29 miles per gallon. Don't know why anyone would hate using a key. It's really very easy. I now have 5,600 miles on the truck with no problems after 8 months of ownership.

The wind noise really bugged me too. I realized it mostly happens when the windshield vent setting is on. Also, you missed the fact that the alternate tailgate setting is to lay a 4x8 sheet flat. That one function tipped the scale for me to buy one.
@dvader32639 ай бұрын
Or, a sheet of plywood or several 2x4s or boards can be placed in any short bed truck with the tailgate up, like millions of people have done since plywood was invented last century. Strap them down for safety, and off we go.
@mikelewis53222 ай бұрын
There are very few truck fullsize or otherwise that will carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood anymore. Most truck now days have a 6 foot or less bed and a 12 foot cab for all these cry babies to ride in

This is the same exact truck which someone else reviewed.... I have two Mavericks, and the wind noise varies depending on each specific sample. Wish you guys could tell us which specific options are on this vehicle. I can see it has luxury package from the other video, appears also to have tow receiver, may have copilot. I have a 22 XLT hybrid, with 6 inexpensive stand alone options, many fewer than on this truck shown, replacing it now, would cost about $5900 more than in 2022. Ford has removed content and massively raised pricing.

What I don't understand is why all these idiots think that you buy the least expensive truck on the planet and are expecting to get every bell and whistle that's on the most expensive. And why is everyone comparing the maverick to the Santa Cruz that thing cost almost $15k more for a base model. If your just going to complain don't test it don't buy it. Mid-grade Maverick or low-spec Colorado? This Maverick is low 30s, and that's roughly what the Colorado WT starts at. I like the Maverick quite a bit, but Ford keeps on raising its prices every year, and Ford dealers still have the gall to charge over sticker for them. In the 20s, the Maverick is a homerun value, but good luck finding a base trim on dealer lots. But when these are low to mid 30s, then mid-sized trucks like the Colorado start looking quite tempting, even if you don't want or need the larger size or capabilities.
@ourv96038 ай бұрын
The worst thing about my 2024 Maverick is that it is not a Maverick Lightning. The 2nd worst thing is that it is not a PHEV Maverick with AWD. The 3rd worst thing is that it is not even a lowly AWD Hybrid. But, after 2 years of waiting I grew weary and stumbled upon a 2024 Maverick TREMOR XLT and bought it. I HAD to have AWD. I almost bought an F150 Lightning until I realized it is WAY too heavy to tow behind our motorhome. Too big for my taste as well. WAY more truck than I need. !
