Great review! Really enjoyed this take on the Lyriq. While the styling towards the rear is strange, think it is much better looking than the iX and would take the Lyriq any day over the iX or other competitors like the EQE. Looking forward to seeing the V-series Lyriq when that finally debuts.

I was an IX fan since the introduction but I just leased this, Sport 3 with Oxford Napa leather. Hands down this is better than IX nor EQE/EQS. They are at least $20k higher than Lyriq. lyriq tops out at $80k and you get the blue cruise and Napa leather package. Try to get an IX under $100k or EQS under $120k before discount. No comparison in this price range.

I think majority of Lyriq reviews are excessively nitpicky as reviewers struggle to find faults with the vehicle. I honestly don’t understand the imaginary difference in build quality/materials between it and its German rivals. I honestly think people just say that because it sounds right to them. Tesla Model X may be sportier and BMW IX more luxurious but they also aren’t in the Lyriq’s direct price bracket. They’re substantially more expensive, and I don’t think Cadillac will have an issue competing with them at those price points.
@anthony202084 ай бұрын
You hit it on the head. It's unfortunate that they have the vehicle for a limited time and parrot issues from years past. GM makes cars for other brands and provides other tech that most people don't know. Ferrari, Audi, Ford, and others utilize the magnetic ride suspension that GM pioneered. Acura/Honda will be using the Utium platform for their next gen EV's. Stop hating on GM when you wear their socks.

Great review, very unbiased. Most higher end Germen cars are over engineered to account creaks and those minor nuances that most of us volume car buyers are used to. Until you're daily driving an Audi Q8 or something in that category you will not understand. The downside they usually cost more to maintain. At nearly $80k that Lyriq is competing in a different segment and you can nitpick! He does also mention the BMW IX and Audi Q8's shortcomings, more so in their respective review videos. Spending $30k or $100k you should nitpick and chose the best vehicle for you!

I have owned Porsches, Audi’s, and Lincoln Continentals. I like to call my 2023 Lyriq my “so-so” car. It is so smooth, so quiet, so powerful, so smart, and so relaxing when I let it drive me with super cruise. I’ve driven over 20,000 miles and still get excited every time I’m behind the wheel. It does not make any of those creaky sounds you mentioned and I actually prefer the original door handles that don’t stick out. I get behind the wheel, turn on my radio, and with second generation noise reduction, I feel like in the concert hall. I sit back and relax and let my car do the driving! I have the all wheel drive model and I can get over 350 miles on a warmer, sunny day.

I just spent a week in a friend's new Lyriq, and found only one flaw, but a rather major one. Such a solid and gorgeous car that's a joy to be in, but on really hot days, the A/C in the second row is very weak. The stylish front vents push little or no air to the back, and the tiny vents on the back of the console are not enough. Granted, this was Palm Springs in July, but people in hot cities like Phoenix and Las Vegas are going to be super unhappy if relegated to the back seat in summer.

My Luxury 1 had the creaky (loose center console piece) but the dealer replaced it under warranty and it doesn't creak anymore. That is what the warranty is for. GM;s supplier may have a small QC issue but I suspect that is correctable once GM addresses the situation with them. I waited for two years to get my car and couldn't get what I wanted when the car was finally ordered so got a Luxury 1 Vs Luxury 2. I don't have SuperCruise, the fancy stereo, massaging seats or the 19KW charging module which would have provided more freedom when on a trip. However, the car I have is great. I have the suspension set in Sport Mode so the ride is firm but not harsh. It is a Cadillac and I really think it is better than the German cars.

4:00 I have the Lyriq with white (sky cool gray) interior. I wanted white because I was envious of Tesla owners with White interiors. 10,000 miles in, it looks great with no stains and minimal creasing on my most used driver seat. The leather options are brown-ish and olive-ish. I saw no reason to want them for that kind of premium. Cadillac might as well get rid of them both. Black, White, and perhaps a blue and red INTELUXE would be so much nicer. Save the leather for the V-series.
@phillipschuman43074 ай бұрын
I thought a few important comparisons were missing-- to its platform cousins, the Blazer and Equinox (Chevy) and ZDX (Acura). The Chevys slot in below in price (and some luxury factors), while the ZDX is probably more money (at least in the S trim), but has extra benefits (air suspension, heads up display, possibly better (at least different) sound system). The Chevys might be in that same category of 90%+ of what the Lyriq provides, and at a lower cost. Of course, if it's only the flagship apex GM model compared to its similarly apex competitors, then clearly the Chevys aren't comparable. But the top trim ZDX would be.

I own a 2024 Lyriq luxury 3. All options. #1. The HVAC system takes too long to cool the inside of the car down and it also takes too long to heat it up. I find myself having to pre-warm and pre-cool the car on the especially cold or hot days. #2. The infotainment system is the first which I have ever encountered that had trouble reading folders off of a USB-C drive. It doesn’t know how to index the music which I have already organized. I have to listen to music randomly. It also has problems with a lot of different file types. #3. I wish there was an option for rear, headrest television monitors. #4. I wish there was an option for rear heated/ventilated/massage seats. This really could have been an S class competitor. #5. The 0- 30 is a little slow. #6. The charging door feels a bit flimsy.

@cscorona13 ай бұрын
@@BioMedUSA squeaks that come from surfaces being used not as intended, but are instead squeezed, pressed, and otherwise manipulated to make a noise is not an indication of quality to me. If my cup holder makes a squeak when I press my thumb against the inside of it, who cares? When would I ever do that in the daily use of my car? The fact is auto makes need to make careful decisions on where to put weight in a vehicle to maximize efficiency. I already watched savagegeese's video and it indeed makes no sense because if you don't drive around with a sound engineer (and I'm willing to venture most people don't) who cares what one says? Reason being, I think what's happening with @savagegeese is that the non-sound engineers find the Lyric's sound system fine, then the engineer pipes in, causing the two hosts to suddenly 'hear' all sorts of issues they didn't notice prior. In other words, a small scale version of mass-induced psychosis

Half of owning an Electric car is the ownership experience. #1 cost of the vehicle #2 cost of insuring it #3 cost of maintaining it. #4 opportunity cost of owning it (what else could I have done with my money). #5 personal enjoyment driving the vehicle. But Electric vehicles have another HALF of that ownership experience and it's THE CHARGING EXPERIENCE. #1 How easily can I get to a charger. #2 How expensive is the car to charge. #3 How reliable are the chargers. #4 How easy is it to charge the vehicle (communication issues?) #5 How many miles can I go per charge (do I have range anxiety?). TESLA has managed to make a bunch of vehicles with a C- ownership experience but presented them with an A- charging experience. Every Tesla Supercharger is plug and play, plug and pay, easy to find on the integrated app, easy to use and STANDARDIZED which most other E-vehicles can't boast. Most other E-vehicles present you with an A- vehicle but a C- charging experience (or worse). It will be YEARS - maybe decades before charging becomes as easy as gassing up. I charge my Lyriq for free on EVgo but here in NYC, they are far and few between. You need to be in Long Island or New Jersey to easily find an EVgo and even then you'll waste time and energy charging up. NYC alone needs 10 times as many EVgo chargers as there are currently - and the same goes for Electrify America. For now, buying an EV here only works if you have a house and can charge at home.
