Wow, Thx! I agree there is a perspective only an owner can provide. However, owners need concede they are likely biased since they have made a financial commitment. I try to be objective, but as an owner, I need to admit I may suffer from lack of a balanced prospective. That is where pros like Out of Spec Reviews comes in to provide a non-invested review. I called GM several times and they had no idea about the chime. Using the voice prompt and saying mute chime volume will reduce the sound. But it goes back to super loud every time the car is restarted. My 2024 Lux 1 has had the 12v battery die but I was able to put the car in neutral for the flat bed. Now my radio goes on and off at times. The dealer asked GM for an info update.

So I’ve been driving my lyric since January 2. I basically leave my rearview LCD mirror turned off. It’s far too distracting. The regular mirror works just fine. Overall, I think this car is probably the best Cadillac ever built. Up until now I had always wanted a CT six because it was almost an S class competitor. I also liked the XTS. Feels like you’re getting the best of those cars with all new technology. There are a few things missing aside from those I pointed out. In order for you to truly have a “luxury car“ on the market now you pretty much have to have a backseat that offers the amenities of the front seat. Noticed that in the Celesteiq, you can get the same heated/ventilated/massage seats that you can get in the front of the lyriq. Why not make a backseat option for those seats? There’s also no option right now for rear seat monitors behind the headrest. The Cadillac CT6 had that feature and I thought it was awesome. The battery is not supposed to be charged to 100% which would give you 307 miles. You can’t reduce the charge to 300 miles. You have to reduce the charge to 297 miles but you can’t ask for 300 even. I think electric vehicles in general would get rid of range anxiety once they can offer a solid 500 miles of range. There’s a lot of loss of range due to using interior heating or cooling amenities but that’s a necessity. I haven’t had a chance to DC fast charge my car yet and I’m still waiting for the EV go card to come in the mail. Eventually, I will get a chance to test a Tesla supercharger against an EV go fastcharger. As it stands: my 40 amp Lectron Vbox takes about 7 1/2 half hours to refill the car to full from 25%
@thenetworkarchitectchannel11 ай бұрын
Great comment and lots of good points. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I agree there are a few things that could push this to a true luxury car. The Escelade back seat infotainment being one and the seat heat/vent in the back too. As far as range, you can charge to 100%, just don't leave it there more then ~6hrs. If you are going on a road trip, 100% charge is fine the night before. it has a feature that comes in clutch where you set your departure time and the car will start to charge to reach that level at the time you set. That is what we use and routinely get well over 300. Tom M. got ~340. We love it to death. I get giddy anytime I get to drive it. The novelty has not warn off even though we are approaching a year of ownership. Thx 4 watching.

I’m not a fan of subscription services. The only one I have is iCloud for 50GBs of data backup for a dollar. I can afford the dollar but as a retiree I would not care to have a $50/month subscription nor would I want to pay a subscription for SuperCruise, something I bought when I purchased the car new. That would be a strong dislike for me.
@thenetworkarchitectchannel Жыл бұрын
Thx for the comment. I am sure many people agree with you and GM will likely have a backlash from customers concerning their new subscription model. I am guessing, I am in the minority with the perspective I have. Thx for watching and taking the time to comment.

Ditto. The providers of these subscription services forget that they are just one of literally hundreds of services asking for your subscription dollar. What they think is a small monthly charge quickly adds up to a substantial monthly headache when you have dozens of other subscriptions not to mention having to keep track of all of them - Which did you forget to cancel, which one is on which card etc.

Thx! & I enjoy making them. I respect your view and actually have a difficult time explaining mine. Back a few years ago, the thought of paying for individual telephones instead of one line for the house would of been unthinkable. Now, it has become accepted to pay $250 per month to the likes of Verizon or AT&T for the family to have the opportunity to one-up each other with new hardware every 18 months not use their phone as a phone, and instead carry around PDAs that are never used as telecommunication handsets. For me, the digital portfolio I carry and enjoy extending to my car makes sense. However, I suspect as you say, the sticker shock will likely have a backlash and may cause GM to reconsider if they start to see customers going elsewhere as a result. Thx for watching & the nice comment.

Nice video. This might be might next car in a couple years. The only thing I might take issue with is your comment "GM...has not produced mainstream EV's before". Well, had two generations of the Volt that started 13 years ago (I own a '17 Volt Premiere I got new in Sept' '16, it has more tech than many new cars today, and I've had OpenPilot in it for over 5 years for amazing Level 2+ self-driving), there was the Spark, the Cadillac ELR and of course the Bolt (which has been around for over 7 years)!! GM was also one of the first auto makers to hit the old 300,000 Federal EV Tax Credit limit. But anyway, nice video. Enjoy your Lyriq, it def on my radar when come time to replace my Volt....but my Volt been such a great car (especially with OpenPilot) that may be 6 or 7 years away. (...and I'll tell you, 15 or 20 years ago I was a "never another GM" guy....put kudos to GM for the massive improvement since then, they deserve a lot of credit for the great vehicles now!)

I love the rearview camera mirror (in the Chevy Bolt - same as yours). We have multiple drivers using the same car and are different heights. No need to adjust the mirror for each driver since you have multiple viewing angles with the camera mirror (like a computer monitor). We never use the regular mirror even though the view is not bad out the back of the Bolt. I have the garage door opener clipped to the passenger side sun visor. This keeps it in reach of the driver and not in your view. Currently EVgo has no chargers in my state (Iowa), maybe one day. I have watched you channel and decided to look at the Pilot and Flying J truck stops in my area (Des Moines). Both would not be a very present charging location (not like the nice ones you reviewed).
@thenetworkarchitectchannel Жыл бұрын
I feel the same as you that the cam option is cool for not having to re-adjust for different drivers and such. My issue is just a thing with my progressive reading glasses. I am pretty sure I am not the only 50+ yr old driving around in one who needs reading glasses. Kinda their target audience ;-) so thought I would throw it on the log pile. Not sure what could be done. Unlike the Bolt, the LYRIC back window is not really practical for viewing traffic out of. Kinda like the Volvo C-40. Thx for watching and chiming in with the comment.

I agree about the camera mirror. I test drove a Toyota Venza with one and hated it. Then I tried an aftermarket one on my car and really wanted to like it but it just felt hard on my 57 year old eyes. On the aftermarket version the mirror mode wasn’t as good as a regular mirror. So I ended up sending it back. But if I didn’t need reading glasses I think I’d have readily liked it.

I agree. W/o reading glasses it is a better option and in the cadi even has a little camera cleaner to wipe away muddy spots. I figured I wasn’t the only 50+ driving around in a cadi who needs reading glasses, so I added it to the list. Thx 4 watching

We’ve had our 2024 Luxury 1 Lyriq for about a month (and we drove a 2023 for two weekends) so the door handle and rear view mirror issues don’t apply (no camera option for the rear view mirror. We love the car as well and my only dislikes are all software which far inferior to our 2022 Ford F150. 1) We do not have super cruise (part of Luxury 2) and were told that the “lane assist” that comes with the Luxury 1 did the same thing as our “Lane Keeper” on our F150. It doesn’t! The lane assist blows and is virtually useless. 2) No trend lines or limit bars and lines on camera views which is really odd as the 2023 has them. 3) Glove box release is stupid and clumsy to get to (put a latch on the door!). 4) Garage door opener … when pulling out of the garage the camera view (w/o trend lines!) comes up and can’t be cleared to select the “control” page where the door opener is located. You have to stop, put the car in park, then select control & garage door, and then put the car back in reverse … all of that just to get out of the garage … again, put 2-3 physical buttons somewhere like every one else does. 5) There is no display of the current % of charge anywhere in any screen in the car … you have to go the My Lyriq App to find this information out and even that app is a little hinky. You’re otherwise left to guess what the actual % of charge is by looking a bar graph marked only with 0% & 100% at both ends of the bar graph.

Walter I recently have found your channel and have watched several of your videos. A couple of quick points! 1) I REALLY appreciate your focus on the EV-GO Flying J build out as I live in Oklahoma and have very few solid charging options. The EV-Go build out should have a big impact on our ability to more easily travel. 2) I appreciate your delivery as you are clearly are not a "bought and paid" for shrill. 3) You clearly spend a lot time and effort and have great production quality for such a small channel. 4) I was shocked while watching your older videos to find out that you actually used to own a Model 3 but I do not see a video discussing that. On that last point My wife and I purchased a Model Y in June and love it. I saw your "checklist" comparing the ModelY vs the Lyric but you never really discuss why you left the Tesla brand and went with the Lyric vs the ModelY (or Model X). When I was looking to purchase I wanted a Lyric but when I started "shopping" all signs (and discounts) pointed to Tesla. Now that I own a Tesla I am convinced I made the right call but would LOVE to see a video of why Tesla did not win your repeat business. In one video you seem to praise their home charger which I also find to be very elegant. You seem to not be a fan of the Supercharger network but that has been the most impressive "feature" of my Tesla that I really did not understand when I made my purchase. Again thanks for all the hard work!
@thenetworkarchitectchannel Жыл бұрын
Thx so much for the nice comment. Tesla is a great brand. I have not met a Tesla owner who experienced buyer's remorse. Their tech is a generation or two above all others. Plus, as you say, the SC network is unparalleled. You have no reason to regret the purchase of the Y, IMHO. If given a blank check, I would likely pursue a 5 seat X for road trip with a Glamping setup. However, as of late, I have my eye on the G2 by Grounded. Both are not really able to be pursued, but one can dream. I did not drive the `19Mod3LR much while on KZbin. My wife and I trade off cars and she was driving it by the time I got to cutting vids. It was her choice to move away from it for the practical reason of comfort. She found it uncomfortable on long trips and too low to get into and out of. I think of EVs in general, the ICE age has come to an end for me. I am fine in a Tesla or other brand. I have grown to appreciate the EV way of life for the many benefits it provides. I am just glad to be on the inside as the EV boom days start to occur. They are exciting times in which we live. Thx for watching.

Well, Walter it has been some time since you got the "Debut". I'm almost jealous. There are still a few "Demo Debuts" out there here in California. New colors are now available, but things do cost more. Thanks for your likes and dislikes. The door handles are what they are. Still trying to convince my wife of the advantages of an EV. #1 The rearview mirror is a bit jarring. It feels like the car behind me is IMMEDIATELY behind me. I'm driving lately with it turned off. #2 Glove Box - The one benefit to a glove box with a digital access is that they could potentially be Password locked. Would be really nice in CARRY states. #5 Door Handles - Your car is the initial run with the press button. My car has the actual pull handles and they are LED lighted. I love that feature! #6 2 years free charging - I choose the 2 years of EV go. But I have a home charger LECTRON V-Box. I may/may never use my free charging. I'll keep the card in my car till then. INTERIOR - the car looks like a spaceship. Probably the best EV design currently as the Mercedes EQE/EQS look like jelly beans. The interior I have is "light grey" which is basically "off white". It makes the interior look GORGEOUS. Like driving an S-class Mercedes. The one thing that bothers me is that the seat track would be perfect if it was just 1 inch rearwards. I'm very tall. There are a number of points I doubt you noticed: a) The turning stalk is a bit soft. It's very easy not to notice if the turning signal is on. b) The Supercruise can't reset the turning stalk after a successful lane change. c) The only USBC port that is recognized by the computer is in the footwell. Therefore your iPhone cable or USB stick will jut out. I'd prefer a recognized port in the armrest. d) The music indexing system is HORRIBLE. I have my music in a usb thumb drive arranged in folders: Rap, Rock, Soundtrack, Latin, Reggae, etc. The Lyriq DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE FOLDERS. I've had to play through my music track by track. WORSE: the Lyriq only lets you scroll through 1 page at a time whilst driving. This is without a doubt the worst indexing I've seen - actually - because the indexing is NON EXISTING. e) The Massage seat feature is a little unintuitive. You press the center button to activate it, but maneuvering from MASSAGE to LUMBAR is difficult. What's extremely odd is you can't touch the touchscreen to use the massage seats. That's a huge omission. f) There's no option for rear heated seats at current. You'd think that this car would have the same rear heated seat tech from the XT5. g) There's no rear ventilated seat option. A minor quibble but it would be nice to have for hot climates h) The scroll wheel has a steep learning curve. It's not as straight forward as Mercedes or BMW. OVERALL, I LOVE MY CAR. This is probably the most ambitious Cadillac made yet (although I've seen the Escaladeiq in person and it looks even moreso). It looks like a $100,000 bucks but costs $70,000 - $80,000 properly equipped. I got the power moonroof because I'm used to having one. I don't really think I "need it" but I like having it. There's no wind screen so if you open the roof while driving fast, all the aerodynamic airflow sounds like a hurricane above your head. I have the 19 KW charger option. Originally I omitted it, but I ended up getting it in this allocation. Unless you are always fast charging/ DC fast charging you may not need it. The moonroof and 19 KW charger are both expensive options most people can do without.

Why couldn’t GM put the rear view image on the lcd like everyone else does? Glovebox issue, Tesla has the same thing, go to the submenu on the screen. Than I found out you can use voice command to do many functions in the car. Including opening the glovebox. Problem solved. I’m sure you can use voice commands with the Lyriq also. If not that sucks. I see Ford Mach E gave free adapters to use Tesla chargers. Have you gotten your’s with the Lyriq yet? If the backseats sold you on this car. The Model Y has seats the recline a few degrees and has plenty of head room. Very comfortable. A new 2023 Model Y AWD long range with tow hitch was $40,090, inventory price with a $7800 discount. After $7500 Tax rebate at time of sale, with all fees and taxes in Southern California. $38K out the door. Can’t beat that for all the tech and performance you get. Subscription for infotainment is only $99 a year. Standard autopilot is included. $99 a month will get you full FSD subscription or buy it out right for 8K, and is transferable to another purchase of a tesla in the future.

IMHO, you should compare the Blazer EV or Equinox EV to the ModY. The LYRIQ competes with the ModX. It costs less and offers more, IMHO. Since I made this, the LYRIQ has become the highest selling Lux model in the U.S., I am assuming because other buyers are seeing the same. Thx for watching.

The range estimate is wrong. First on the road you only charge your car to 80%. Charging beyond 80% is considered bad manners especially if there are people waiting. (the charge according to a curve, they charge much faster at slower levels then they do at higher levels, so if you come to a charger at 20% and it takes say 20 min to charge to 80%, it my take longer to charge from 80 to 100 than it would take from 20 to 80.) If you don't wish to be below 20% when you arrive at a station you are only using 60% of the battery if you are charging at fast chargers and 80% when you are charging at home on a level 2 charger.. 60% of 300 miles is 180 miles. If you travel at real highway speed say 70-75 mph you may be surprised.

The glasses are your own issue and you can't expect any car manufacturer to account for everybody's eyesight (that's just ridiculous) While I also don't like the fact you just can't physically open the glove box, you can put the glove box icon on the main screen so you don't have to go into the main menu for it. We managed to reduce the ding noise. I'd rather have more room in the back than have a frank. 2024 models have better handles. This car is like a spaceship and Cadillac has done a great job. The ride is so smooth, so much better and luxurious than any of the Teslas.
