I'm thrilled by the idea of a new movie and/or series and/or spin-off! I see your reasoning for a time jump into the late 1930s, but I think it would also be a pity to miss that much time in between. I would love to see Tom and his wife and children moving to their villa, inviting the whole family for the summer, or the kids creating chaos in the house and having adventures, or Mr. Mosley's career and family or more about the Bates. Also I think, if you go too far into the future, you would get to a point, where there would be hardly any servants left, which would be a loss to the concept of showing people's life upstairs and downstairs. If it was up to me, I would set the next movie or series in the early 1930s, with some funny storylines with the kids, with a growing flexibility between the social classes, e.g. the Mosleys getting rich, with love and romance, visits to London, France, and maybe, due to the times, a storyline with a Jewish relative of a main character, fleeing from Germany to England, or even another criminal affair to investigate, like with the Prince's letter. But there should be no more drama for the poor Bates, they went through so much already. Also, the quickly changing fashion would be really interesting to me, and what about another royal ball? :)

It is unlikely anyone will be getting rich in the early 1930s. Thdrama would be clear - it’s the Great Depression and there would be struggles with finances for everyone.

@@bryana50cents16 I would like to see a new Downton series that tells the story of. How Robert and Cora met and their early years of marriage were. And the background stories of how all servants came to Downton.
