Another great historical video of my favorite city. It's amazing to see the number of historical buildings that have stood the test of time. Thank you

Thanks for the historical adventure! You’re on your way to earning a star on the St. Louis walk of fame! I’m joking, but your many video chronicles of the city are informative and entertaining. Thank you for sharing them.

Another great video. Loved the history. Who knew? Great historical facts. Loved the note on Betty Grabel and Muddy Waters and the father of mixology. My wife, when she was in nursing school back in the seventies at Jewish Hospital ,used to win the beer drinking contests down there so she and her friends could drink when they had no money. I was in STL over the holidays and downtown. I must say, I feel revitalized after looking at your video. My son and I went down there and drove downtown and my son, who was "up" on STL, (he lives in DC), soon became depressed after seeing all the vacant storefronts along Washington Ave and throughout downtown. Your video renewed my faith in STL that there is much to offer. I hope downtown has another Renaissance. Thanks so much for your content.

Thanks again for the kind words. Without the encouragement and support of people like you, I don't know if we would at least be here at this point LOL. I always think of you anytime I mention William Ittner LOL. It's so funny that we see so many of his buildings. LOL. You caught on to that right away. Of course that's why he has a star on the walk of fame- although his needs some restoration work at some point LOL. I really enjoy seeing your comments. Thanks again.

I got a good history lesson. I worked for Ozark Airlines and TWA from 1984 to 2003. Seems like ancient history based at Lambert Field.
@organstl2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for watching and the comment. TWA was awesome- I still have a paper card of theirs in a box from when I was a kid and we went on a couple of flights. Lots of history here with McDonnell Douglas.

This was great! Thanks for helping me appreciate downtown much more. I tend to only see the problems when I’m down there. Good to see a positive take. Do you give tours around St Louis?❤

That is a very nice comment. I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching and commenting. I am just doing KZbin videos right now when I get a chance. I wish I had more time. Eventually I'll get some more neighborhoods done. I've done Downtown West also and a few others. Thanks again- I'm glad you found it- that really makes it worth it for me.

Have you ever considered doing a walking tour of the area that was known as the Kerry Patch?
@organstl Жыл бұрын
Yes, sometime I will get to that. That was in Carr Square. I have absolutely no idea what that video will look like lol. I haven't done the dogtown neighborhoods yet either, those are the more current Irish neighborhoods. I'm hoping to get to those around St. Pat's Day maybe. I think I've done about 17 of 79 neighborhoods, so hopefully I can just keep gradually getting them. Thanks for watching- I appreciate it.

Thanks for watching- I filmed some of it in December and it was COLD. I saw a couple of people with their dogs. The arch grounds are very busy in the summer. This weekend we had football, baseball, and a parade going at the same time.

The rail road McArthur bridge was NOT part of route 66. The route 66 bridge is on Riverview blvd. next to the current I-270 bridge.
@organstlАй бұрын
Thanks for watching- I appreciate your time. It can be quite confusing- there were many bypass and alternative routes. It did go over the MacArthur Bridge- which included a car deck- before it went over the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge- which it went over in the 1930s. There are all kinds of different routes and re-routes that were part of it also. It's hard to keep track of all of it.
@WilliamHolloway-r1gАй бұрын
@organstl Oh.....ok... thanks 👍

I thought Route 66 went across the Chain of Rocks bridge?
@organstl5 ай бұрын
That's a good question. They made that a Bypass Route. They changed things around several times. I think the McKinley Bridge was the very first one.

I'm assuming Benton is the name on Benton Park. To me it will always be pronounced show tow. I've never heard a person in St Louis especially those born here pronounce it the Way you are some people say gravois differently as well
@organstlАй бұрын
Yes Benton Park is also named after Thomas Hart Benton. I also say "Show tow" like everyone else but was just pronouncing Auguste Chouteau's name like that for the video- It was pronounced differently, but we have "Americanized" it. Ha!

It was empty for awhile and then suffered some damage from winds in a storm, and then they gave up on it. It would've been nice, but they have been talking about other development plans down there which will be nice in the future.
