Oh my gosh, big project! Congrats on taking the plunge and getting started. Taking apart a layout and dusting it all is very satisfying. Looking forward to seeing the decisions you make!

Thanks for sharing your update. This will be fun to follow. Look forward to seeing the new modular, not that I can afford it with how much I'll probably spend on F1 sets next year.

The first thing you should do is put the jazz club right by where the waterfall comes out and then put the road right in front of that so the waterfall goes over the road in front of your jazz club and then Town Hall goes right next to your jazz club on the Jazz side and I love your Channel😊❤❤❤

You need to start building a lot of MILS plates and begin converting the city to MILS. The One-way streets alone you could make will save you lots of SPACE! in the city.

Why is a temporarily non existent city so satisfying?
@alexnunesАй бұрын
So strange, but I am just gonna go with it. I might lay on the table surface for a bit to relax before I start adding stuff back in.

You know Alex, if you just turn that ocean of green into an eighteen hole golf course, you will need much fewer pieces.

With no buildings it looks like a massive Space! 😲 It might be nice to keep small elements from your old layouts like a downsized square as the history from Zanderburg.
@alexnunesАй бұрын
You would think it would never get filled. This will be a fun challenge though.
@TheOtherGuys2Ай бұрын
I've just had an idea. You have that sort of courtyard area you showed near the end there, from Zanderburg, and you don't want to get rid of it because it's from the old city, but it also takes up so much /space/ in the downtown. So I was thinking you could double it up with something else. So, follow me here. On the felt, you have say, a train station, and it's large enough to accommodate all the railways that go through the downtown. It could extend pretty far, a short but sprawling complex, complete with a tunnel for car traffic even. On top of this, perhaps a monorail station, and then a large portion of it is covered by this courtyard. Other parts of it could be covered by buildings, modulars and/or MOCs. This way, you'd save on the space of the courtyard, the train stations, and the roads, by doubling up their space with buildings. I hope that makes sense! Yeah, it'd be a bit of a task, but think how cool it'd be to have a whole section of the downtown be practically underground. (Note: I'm suggesting here to use the technique where setting a baseplate on bare studs comes out to the same height as a normal plate.)
@alexnunesАй бұрын
I think I get what you're saying. I might need to get a bit creative with that upper loop train as well.

For the tile patern you had in your old city maybe give it a new spin with some new colors and downsize it because I thought you said that tile build was 4 baseplates maybe you can do it in 2 and center the townhall in the middle of the pattern?
@alexnunesАй бұрын
Yes! I think it is time to downsize it and give it some new life.

with the clean slate you should minimise as much downtown road as possible. if you think about it residential and commercial modulars don't need to be along roads like what the municipal modulars and skyscrapers do
@alexnunesАй бұрын
Totally agree. Time to make this city more pedestrian friendly.

NGL, you'd make an excellent architect. When given free reign to design whatever they want, the result invariably is a big featureless block.

@dd_zzero6827Ай бұрын
Hey Alex. I am late to the party but I wanted to ask you if you have thought about getting rid of the airport? They are just space hogs. You can do sooo much more with downtown if you had that space. You can do the big building downtown, and then have an uptown where the smaller, modulars buildings can be.
@SusanGaskinАй бұрын
Thanks for taking us on this journey with you. Looking forward to the rebuild!

@ANotSoHappyGonkАй бұрын
what's the use of the felt cloth? for looks?
@alexnunesАй бұрын
Great question. It is for looks, just as you guessed, but it also protects the LEGO sets so the baseplates do not get scratched by the wood surface as I slide them around.
@peterkangas3127Ай бұрын
are you going to try to use mill's plate
@alexnunesАй бұрын
I don't think I will this time around.

Why don't you just make the platform where the airport, hospital, and that hotel are wider so that way you can have more room to work with or how about this just get rid of it all together, because it never really made any sense at all with that whole platform to being with, UNLESS you're doing a mountain range that would require platforms like that Alex, because I know you Alex, you have the attendance to try to keep everything in that city of yours and I know you took out A LOT of stuff from before, but as long as LEGO keeps producing Modulars like they are and other city sets and people doing their own MOCs, you'll just have to keep making changes to your city EVERY SINGLE TIME just to make room for a new Modular set or something, they won't give you guys a break/breather from it, and eventually you would have to make much BIGGER sacrifices then sacrificing a few SMALLER sets here and there.
@alexnunesАй бұрын
Great points, I can't really argue with that logic. Similar to the last build, there will be some big adjustments if I am going to make this all work in he long run.
