I grew up in Surrey and used to go through that area every day for school and work. I moved away to be closer to my wife's family and haven't been home in about 5 years now. It is absolutely amazing how much it has changed in that short time. I saw at least 6 sky scrapers (and multiple other buildings) that didn't exist at all last time I was there. Thanks for sharing!

I hear you, I too grew up in Surrey in the late sixties and into the seventies. Graduated from NSSS in '71. I recognized Surrey Central , right across from Surrey Place Mall, which I think is gone now. My mom worked in Sears in the Mall and we lived in Birdland on Swallow Drive. We moved to Wyoming 11 years ago and the family is all up the Valley now so don't get in that section much .

Hongcouver BC boy here from the seventies…. Oakridge snob, self confessed. 49th and Cambie raised. Always watched the fights and reputation from Surrey darlings from the cheap seats. 30 years later my son moves to Whistler, BC to work in the village and he confirms all my stories of Surrey darlings starting up all sorts of drama north of Garibaldi. @@barneygo2010 I think the caption said "Downtown Surrey". I have lived in Surrey since 2003 and Surrey Central is not what it was 10years ago since the city made the decision to make Surrey Central a downtown. They rebuilt Surrey Memorial Hospital and it now has a Tower and it has the most modern facilities. The development of Surrey is so great that housing is now almost unaffordable - Skytrain is being extended from King George to Langley. Guildford mall has been expanded and modernized. Hope you take a visit to Surrey soon to South Surrey/Panorama Ridge/Fleetwood/Cloverdale etc.
