@@IzzysTravelDiaries Do you know what the monthly cost of living is in Eger? I will eventually be moving back out of the USA and, due in part to your videos, I would like to know more about Hungary. I grew up in England and have lived in Česká Republika, so I'm not a total stranger to the area, but I don't know a lot about your country.

@@Wren1 I live in Szeged, but it's probably similar. It depends a lot on if you're renting. I haven't rented in years as I live with my mum, though I wouldn't be able to afford rent. It also depends a lot on how thrifty you are. I'm very thrifty. I don't go out much, keep an eye on sales for food, cook at home a lot and don't really eat much. Also a lot of apartments have measuring things, so it depends a lot on how much you use water and the like.

@@Wren1 I had a quick look at the main renting site, and it would probably be around 200 000 HUF with food, rent and utilities. Smaller apartments are around 100 000. It depends a lot on the type of heating, but you can count at least 50 000 for utilities and at least another 50 for food. Why I can't afford to rent. That's my income. Yeah, and none of my KZbin is monetized ...

@@IzzysTravelDiaries I know how you feel. Here in California the cost of living is so high compared to average income that it has taken me years to save what I have. I live as simply as possible. When I go out, it's to do cheap or free things like hiking, biking, camping and/or photography (though here in Los Angeles it's difficult to do any of those). I always look for the best value on the things I buy and limit what I own, which I suppose is a holdover from when I lived a much more itinerant life (fewer possessions = fewer worries = easier to move). A small flat/apartment is fine by me so long as it has the basics. Eger looks nice and based on those numbers I could afford it for some time, but I don't necessarily have to live there if I find a less costly place. Really any place that is calm, has grocery shops/markets and four seasons is fine with me. Thank you for the response and taking the time to find that information. I do appreciate it.
