It's Doyle's use of the cascading harmonics and the bluesy groove for me... Definitely a guitar legend I continue to learn a lot from 🙌🏿🔥📝

Saw him play at a Taylor clinic in Montreal years ago. No one knew who he was. We were all blown away.

Still shaking my head at J-45 at 12 years old. Great Father!!! (Mine basically told me I was on my own with guitar at that age.) Also great advice for all parents and grandparents in supporting their kids and grandkids. Another Great Video by Doyle Dykes!!!

Doyle... First off God Bless brother from Vancouver Island Canada... I've been following you for some time teaching myself your songs ( I can't read music but I can learn a song in a couple hours ) and like you I too had J-45 but soon after my family fell on hard times many years ago, my mom and dad loaded up the old Dodge Fargo truck with item's to be sold at a local fair in our small town. Along with many things that were sold , sadly my J-45 was sold for $100 ( my family just played music we had no understanding of cash value of my guitar at the time ) because food and clothes were more important than owning a guitar. I tried to forgive my parents for selling it and God knows I tried, but it still pains me after 42 years. As an adult I've had many guitars thru the years but just recently in November 2021 our small town was flooded/destroyed and everyone had to evacuate including me. I ended up on Vancouver Island where once again cards were dealt and I had to sell my Seagull Artist 6 string acoustic/electric ( that I had cherished so much ) because of losing everything in the flood and the guitar was all I had left worth any value. I'm a health and safety officer on long term permanent disability and the flood cost me everything including my Seagull.. Oh well I'm sure God has a plan and I know some day I'll get another guitar. I currently have this old beater 6 string Cort that really has a great sound but it's a tad hard on the fingers lol. Just wanted to say how much you've influenced my style of playing and lit a fire under my backside again to start playing music again a couple years back so Thank you. Love and Prayers my friend you are more of an inspiration than you will ever know. Cheers Tim from British Columbia, Canada. April 16-2022

I had played the Wabash Cannonball for many many years but using the standard concert tuning. Once I learned your tuning, a lightbulb went on and suddenly my fingers were doing things and finding sounds I never thought possible. I recorded once down in Nashville at the age of 16 during a road trip with my parents. In Opry Land Barbara Mandrel sp? had a studio there and as we were walking by it, I was singing some song and a guy walked out and told my parents I should probably come in a record something. I ended up singing Country Roads and one other song I can recall. Had that tape for years lol but it's been lost of time.

Is that standard tuning? I’m not a guitar player but I play other stringed instruments that I can apply this to….I sometimes Learn things on guitar then just swap to my instruments. Would love to learn this!

Thanks letting us steal a couple of your tricks! Does anything sound bad on a J-45? Gibson hardly needs a plug when they have you making sweet ear candy.
