Okay, here's the last of the live songs from Doyle, I think it's the best. I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.

@darklink45982 AWESOME! Yes! I first met Doyle 16 years ago. He was awesome before on the electric guitar. Do get to see him in person about twice a year...He is 10 times more awesome in person & keeps improving every year....I don't think he knows any any limits. His whole family & children are awesome musicians too.

If I wanted to lie to myself I'd say, "One day, I'll be able to play like this." This dude rocks the living sh*t out of Wabash Cannonball. Absolutely amazing.

I've always loved listening to Jack in the Box and all the other classics I have on MP3, but seeing him perform live wipes that all away. He is one of the greats, IMO. Amazing talent. The pitch bending technique is incredible.

Doyle Dykes makes his guitar sound like a guitar-banjo duet! When he bends that note, you can hear the train a-comin', a-comin' round the bend...,. The progression down the neck of his guitar send shivers down my neck. This is a totally virtuoso definitive Wabash Cannonball. What was that stuff about his being Christian? Who cares? I come to KZbin for the music! Geez Louise! (a bowdlerism for those who don't want anyone to take the name of their deity in vain.)

Well yes, Doyle is one the best,very innovative, fast, smooth, and is a virtuoso. But the best thing about Doyle is that he is a very good father and a very humble man. You would never know just how talented he is by having a conversation with you. He would be more concerned about you as a person and want to know what your interests are. Doyle is like Phil Keaggy, two the nicest most humble people in the business. I'm a better person for having known them. Gary B-Fort Wayne

You know that Doyle dykes is perfect because you cant even add lyrics to his music, he in a sense has full expression on his guitar, much like playing a piano but on a guitar. So awesome.

Cristian or not, great guitarist. This song reminds me of one of my heroes, Doc Watson. If you don't konw about him you better read up kiddies, best country picker ever and he's been blind since before he started playing at like the age of 6.

Ya know if you weren't staring right at it ...you'd think it couldn't be possible. Notice also the minus of any string scratch, and was there ever even a hint that he'd at least come close to missing just one note .....How about just one!...It's so frustrating! Really not fair!

not necessarily tuning his guitar but using the the change in tuning to bend the note... the man is pure genius in my opinion... I consider his talent right up there with Chet Atkins and the now late Les Paul.
@FririkurEllefsen18 жыл бұрын

how can anyone say this man cant pick... holy sweet christ that was awesome. allthough i still like the version jerry reed did on the porter wagner show best.
@BuddyGtr12 жыл бұрын
@5K1NN1T No, but that was very good guess. It is actually DGDGAD (Open G). It is a great tuning, and it is a great way to sort of give yourself a head-start if you want to learn 5-string Banjo but don't own one yet!
@adamewhite16 жыл бұрын
most people tune slightly higher pitch than the note. Gives a brighter tone. If you tune your guitar even slightly flat generally it makes it have a dull sound. Andy mckee told me he tunes at the note plus 1/8 most of the time. Gives him that great sound

@TheReilly8 Tune your guitar down and put a capo on it. ie. if he is tuned to G B D G B G tune your guitar to E Ab B E Ab E put a capo on the 3rd fret and Bob's your uncle. Alternatively use a lighter gauge for the problem string

If this was an audio clip, i'd assume there were 3 guitars playing. He's that good.
@Mrlin1316 жыл бұрын
As someone just getting into bluegrass playing, can anyone tell me how Doyle's doing those bends? The camera doesn't get close enough to his left hand, but I haven't seen anyone play like that (looks like he's fiddling with the tuning pegs or something). Thanks!
@ColinPRS16 жыл бұрын
This man made me spend a lot of money on a Taylor, when I realsied it wasn't the guitar but the player that sounded great, then the Taylor had to go. What a payer!
@NickKBMusic11 жыл бұрын
He does play it in Open G, but with the second string tuned down one whole step. I'm blanking on the note.. But the reason why is so that he can do the bending through the head stock.
@KiwiPieDude16 жыл бұрын
i saw him 2 probably the same day you did.. did you see him at maine south?
