One thing sorely missing from your & Chris' pond builds is habitat. You move all that dirt, have all of that opportunity, yet fail to think fish, turtles, etc. Their some more stumps in, some rocks, create ledges, some shallows. Your customers will love it & so will the animals.

Matt is very patient and seems very eager to learn. Keep training him and I think he will make you a very good operator. I always use the weight of the machine to my advantage when I can and steer with the blade as you are. Much easier on the machine that way. Good video and VERY good information. We are building a ten k acre Levy an we are stripping the ground of organic material right now so we can fill the old farm ditches with good materials. The dam wall is gonna be about 70' high. You guys are making quick work of the dam tho. Nice job. I watching /listening while in the end dump lol

I dont know if you covered it in the past episodes or not but the blades are the biggest reason for the difference in performance. On the B it's more of a traditional blade while the J is a "carry" blade. With the carry blade it's designed to grab the loose material and shuffle it from point A to point B. So it makes sense that it would steer the dozer when trying to break ground. It might worth an episode to talk with a dealer or 2 and see if you can get some information on different dozer blades and their uses because not all dozers are made to do the same thing.

You are correct on that sir. I drove a trash truck for 20 years. You see all kinds of dozer blades in the landfill and the jobs they do.

We have leaned the blade back aggressively on our 850J and it has helped it handle the big cuts much smoother. Doesn't clean off as easy if your pushing up hill but a worthy trade off imo.

I noticed when DP and Chris were side by side, the B dug in more and the J was losing dirt underneath the blade. Then I noticed the blade was tilted back on the J. It must be riding over the top of the dirt, instead of digging in.
