This movie was my Top Gun before I even saw Top Gun. It made me fall in love with the F-16 Falcon for it's simplicity and because of the fly by wire controls. That signature camouflage look in the movie just made it look so tough!

The 80s just had that magic when it came to movie making. You can't even deny it. The music, the practical effects versus CGI. Sure, some of it doesn't age that well but there's just a special charm about it really. Movies like Iron Eagle and Top Gun are some of the finest military aviation movies ever made. As hokey as they are at times. It's a shame hollywood has lost interest in making movies like this. Now it's about cheesy romance movies and comedies lol.

Great line and also a goof in the film. Doug fires one when in reality one of the safety features of an F-16 is that it will not allow you to fire if the landing gear is down, which it clearly is if they are sitting on the ground.

The continuity goofs are off the charts when it comes to the plane’s armaments, and all of the aerial footage is courtesy of the Israeli Air Force (no USAF planes involved in the making of this movie). However, when it comes to movies about high school kids running Willy-nilly around a USAF base and hijacking F-16s, this is the GOAT!!!!

I love this movie, but back in the 80s they was not even close to what we today know as "consistent". The F-16 takes off unarmed, then it shoot more weapons than a munition warehouse has. How is this possible? Because people back then did not play flightsimulator as Falcon BMS or DCS! And also because today we watch movies a little bit more with a critical eye. I wonder if one day the human brain changes in a way that it cannot get be fooled by the 60 frames per second and then it cannot perceive the movie as a flow, but just as a series of still images?! But if this happens, the world will be gone.
@Washeek2 жыл бұрын
Don't worry. Suspension of disbelieve is something you can do voluntarily. Animated films use even still scenes over multiple frames to convey a message of action, hell people read comic books ;-) So even if interaction between human and technology leads to us being able to see frames selectively, it will not impair our ability to watch movies ;-)
