I love how adamant he was about not talking about fashion. he's great at both but does not wish to use the momentum from his brand as a tool. he is genuinely passionate about film, and these past two films show he deserves to be taken seriously

I love that Tom Ford is a fashion designer who is now directing films, and who knows what else. He teaches us that our creativity is only limited to the limitations to we put on it. We can express, reinvent and recreate ourselves. If you love doing something do it. Doesn't matter what you were doing before.

Exactly i am surprised how the hell did he make this film. It really does not look like it was made by someone who makes cinema as a "hobby". The film had that finesse and style which i think would have been impossible to be made by someone who is not an all out experienced filmmaker. I am talking about nocturnal animals

I saw Nocturnal Animals yesterday (haven't seen A Single Man) and Tom Ford has earned my respect, he did such a terrific job with this movie. He's clearly not someone who just goes into film for the hell of it or anything but he has really something to say. This interview reflects that.

Tom is a well of humanity, existential exploration, and insight. People seem to get so caught up with Tom Ford the Legend that they don't really listen to what Tom the man is expressing. Bless him, the interviewer is lagging behind, clumsy, and missing the cues all over the place, but Tom has the swift intelligence and courtesy to smile and sweep things along directing in such a well-mannered way that he helps the interviewer save face. A rare breed of man these days.

I thought tom ford would be some great directors who has struggled as a filmmaker in industry and honed his sills as a filmnaker and does not make cinema as a hobby but rather it is his passion and career. Because seeing this film i had no idea that he was just a hobbyist seasonal filmmaker and not an all out filmmaker

I'm paying close attention to what Tom Ford saying and it's clear that he is a very organized man, which is very rare for creative people in general, pretty much like how I am. He's the most influential designer today and now an acclaimed film maker, director, and producer. Hence, he is such an inspiration for me moving forward with all my projects, being a novelist, entrepreneur building a business that includes a myriad of business units.

I like hearing tom's perspective and thoughts on the movie, it felt very cohesive and specific. I loved it for how straight forward it was, you can tell it was a lot of thought put into it. The interviewer could've relaxed a bit though, like obviously tom didn't want to talk about fashion and only the film, but like i think Tom did just say what he said because the dude reallly wanted to know. Tom seems really sweet and earthly.

This video enforces the fact that, "Good interviews require moderators/interviewers". Here you have a passionate and fastidious film maker, but the questions being asked are repetitive, off topic and many a times vague. These questions prevented Tom Ford from getting into his zone and talking about things that excite him. Note: As of this comment I've seen only 2/3rd of the video (19 minutes). The comment reflects my emotion for the first 19 minutes of the interview.

Him being so controlled in how he speaks and presents himself actually makes him less attractive and fascinating as a person - which at least for me is exactly how he seemed from just looking at him - enigmatic and captivating - so that is a bit sad, as he seemed not spontaneous and perhaps less authentic.. I wonder what feeling about him did You get from that interview..? But as an artist and a director/writer he is simply a genius! I remember seeing A Single Man for the first time - it was like watching an art gallery show in moving form, each shot framed so exactly and precisely, like a painting of its own. It was one stunning intimate character piece! Thank you for this interview and many others, DP. I love how you manage to bring out things in people, which they talk about broader than a typical movie interview. It makes it possible to get to know the actors/directors better as people, which is what's most fascinating.

DP, you always find good interview subjects. Wish Tom Ford would direct Gary Oldman (why you interviewed twice!) But perhaps Oldman is not handsome enough for Ford. There must be something not to like or respect about this fucking guy. I mean Jesus Christ. I'd seen both of his fantastic films and until recently, I had no idea this was the same Tom Ford who Jay Z liked enough to turn his name into a chorus. Then I saw a picture of him on IMdB, and became angry that someone so young and so much more handsome than I could be so successful in two very different worlds of art, while maintaining the integrity to not let one world contaminate the other. Then I saw that he was not young at all and just looks about 30 years younger than he really is. Then I thought, "oh he's probably just a handsome Harvey Weinstein who just uses his power in the industries to force himself upon women." Then I found out he's actually gay and married to a handsome man and they have a child together. At this point I start looking for interviews with him just praying he's a pretentious asshole who looks down an all who aren't on his level... Nope... turns out he's just a super nice guy. Now I'm really hoping he's a serial killer or a pedophile or something so that I can at least have one thing I don't respect about him
