Since then, Rust & Bone, The Drop, Far From The Maddening Crowd, The Danish Girl, A Bigger Splash, Red Sparrow, and this year, Terrance Malick's A Hidden Life, Steven Spielberg's The Laundromat, and Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre's The Mustang. I've admired his work in several films, especially The Mustang, but I hadn't seen him in an interview until today. After watching Far From The Maddening Crowd last night I thought I'd look for one and I'm so glad KZbin suggested this one. Wonderful interview! I'm much older than him but he gave me a lot to think about in my own life as a creative person. Thank you for asking him excellent questions and allowing him to respond at his own pace. I needed to hear it.

As I contemplate Matthias' movies, they are role that have to be told. To continue with his audiences's attention, a love story should be intertwined. It's a very strong pull for all the women that love to see him in a romantic love story.

Matthias chooses movie roles that find him in unchartered waters, unless he;s working in Hollywood. As times goes on he will receive more and more recognition. The movie world is taking so many twists and turns. It will be so wonderful to see the Terry Mallick movie he has just completed.

It’s unfortunate when the interviewer cannot connect with the actor he or she is interviewing. Matthias is answering the questions with genuine responses and the interviewer is so superficial with his comments and questions.

Matthias had a 4 yr classical education in Belgian. He must have absorbed the insights by osmosis. He always instinctively knows how to respond. He's sensational.. No on really knows what he is thinking when he is being interviewed.

Wilma Versace he was great in Suite Francaise and Far from the Madding Crowd he was the consummate romantic character. I adore him and he hasn’t had one dud movie yet and I’ve seen nearly all of them except his first one Daens. Rust and Bone has to be my favourite he played that role so effortlessly but then he does with all his roles. He has a gift of losing himself in the character. Bullhead was another one where it’s hard to believe he’s actually acting, that’s the mark of a great actor. He can be something really special and achieve stardom but I get the distinct feeling that he’s not that fussed about fame. He’s a very humble actor, self-effacing and very passionate about his work. I hope he makes many more wonderful movies, the kind you think about long after you leave the theatre.

Julian Perks oh, so he’s now done two Terrence Malick films. I thought he was only talking about his small part in “A Hidden Life.” Didn’t realize the travel he mentioned was for this other Malick project. Cool. Now I know to keep an eye out for it. Thank you! Malick films can test one’s patience. I make the effort to stick with and finish them though because they’re so different, and visually beautiful.

This interview almost screams he plays the character or played the character, Kobe Bryant. This obviously raises a million questions but before moving there, the similarities are uncanny. He talks alot sports and playing characters. Yes he is an actor, but the character of Kobe seems like an idealized version of the person he portrays to be. Strange
