It’s possible to get two “last stands” in one game! I didn’t know about it myself until it happened to me. I’m not sure if you can get a third one, but the second one gave you even less health than the first one.

To add to the Donkey Kong section, I think that the fact he is in the crowd before his fight is a reference to Rocky 3. In Rocky 3's intro, Clubber Lang is seen in the audience of all of Rocky's fights after Rocky becomes the World Champion and then while watching him fight, he's determined to fight Rocky in which he does later on in the film. This seems very similar to the Donkey Kong situation in this game and I think that it is a nod to the movie.

The chocolate bar feature was used in the original Punch-Out on the NES as a motivational shoulder pat. If you use it immediately before the first round, your health will be cut in half. During round intermissions or after a victory, Doc will tell you to join Nintendo Club or "The Nintendo Fun Club" today. Another neat detail is that after every 100th win, Doc will say: "Alright son listen up. I'm very proud of you. Just keep it in the ring okay? You don't want to be a bully outside the ring."

Fun Fact:you can do the same health regeneration trick in Mike Tyson's Punch Out and Punch Out feat Mr Dream if you press select when a round is over. Doc Louis will pat Little Mac on the back and when yo go into the next round,you will have more health

IIRC, Piston Hondo gets different types of sushi floating around his head, and he actually notices which kind it is. There’s also a reference in-between rounds that Doc Louis makes, where he references Piston Hindi’s original name, Piston Honda.

Fun tip, if the crowd cheers the moment a hit knocks you out before the on the ropes animation (audio only) mac is able to do his roar, I believe its minus, but for good measures I mash minus, one, and 2, if the crowd doesnt cheer at all, no chance. Theres also a VERY small chance to do it twice in one match. Dont rely on it, its RARE.

I actually realized recently for the thing, where you're about to go down, when Mac puts his foot out and roars? That actually isn't luck based. It depends on if the crowd is cheering or not. Basically, when the animation starts for Little Mac's TKO animation, there's a BRIEF second where you can hear the crowd cheer. If you spam 1 and 2 on the contoller, it guarantees Mac giving it his all one last time since the crowd is supporting him. Now, if there's a way to guarantee the crowd cheering during the TKO animation? That I do not know. But still, I found it kinda cool.

Hey! So the higher class the opponent is, the lower chance it is to get a TKO/KO Recovery. So if you're fighting glass joe, since his skin is made of baguettes and bandaids, you have a pretty high chance of getting the recovery if you smash buttons. But if you're fighting someone like TD Sandman, it's a very low chance to have mac throw himself forward and stay up. Probably just to fall again and not get it.

Little macs last stand is RNG involved. When little mac gets knocked down there are times when you hear the crowd cheering and clapping. Listen for that. That is when you hit the plus minus button. If you don't hear the crowd it does not work. This can happen multiple times in a match but that is extremely rare. 4:32 If you don't hear the crowd it won't work at all. Edit I am glad we can agree that DK's win animation is him taking Little mac to smash. I like to think that as well as Zallard1 and many other Punch Out fans.

Missed Easter eggs: 1. If Soda Popinski is heavily damaged in Title Defense, during his Pre-round animation, instead of drinking 2 bottles, he will instead drink 2 entire CASES of soda! Allowing this cutscene to play out will cause him to regain some health in the next round. 2. In Title Defense, if you knockdown Don Flamenco 2 times without knocking off his toupee, when you TKO him with a 3 Star-Punch, his toupee will break into tiny pieces. 3. If you Title Defense Von Kaiser, or Contender Don Flamenco by decision, the victory animation is different since their KO animations involve Little Mac on screen knocked out.

For the 1 and 2 buttons, that's only when using the wiimote alone. If you're using the nunchuck it's also shaking the wiimote, just like the health regen. Also can only happen if the crowd is cheering for you, and I think it's tied to how close you are to the enemy. If you're close to his health you have a strong chance, but if he has full health it probably won't happen.

Minor add-on to the unique dizzy stars: It's implied Piston Hondo can _see_ his own dizzy stars, because before he goes down, he confusedly says "sushi?" And it's not just Western devs using random Japanese words for a character's dialogue because everything else, to my knowledge, is quite accurate.

In the orignal arcarde game donkey kong the damsel in distress was not in fact princess toadstool (Princess Peach) it was actually the first damsel in distress of all videogames (at the time) and her name was Pauline, the actually brought Pauline back for Super Mario Odyssey as the mayor of New Donk city.

Actually, if you mash the buttons or shake the nunchucks fast enough while you’re doing the ko animation, you higher the chances of not losing. The faster you shake/mash, the more chances you survive. Generaly, a bigger and stronger opponent lower your chances of not being knocked out. Try doing it against glass joe. It's way easier.
