I'm 63, I have fond memories coming back, from the 80's. I seen him in Hershey Park Arena . My young wife didn't like him , but I fed her the soft songs. I jammed my self alot harder songs, especially Rust Never Sleeps. He had a way of touching me inside because I wanted to be different from the kid my parents made me be. It brought tears to my eyes, knowing it seems like some country boy wants to break out and be different , tough, wild ,and caring. He was and always be awesome.

I had front row dead center orchestra pit tix for Neil on this tour. Sat maybe a foot away from him. I've met lots of rock stars over the years, Garcia and Richards being the most famous. On first name basis with some of the biggest acts in Jam. And I've never been more nervous meeting anyone than Neil. Dude is just a genius. The reworkings of tunes he did this tour will never cease to amaze me. He has so much talent it's outright frightening. One of the great moments of my life. Was fortunate enough to catch him thrice on this years tour and he's still delivering the goodies bigtime. There'll never be another Neil Young or anyone close. His range is staggering

Much the same here. He’s been a big part of the soundtrack of my life for decades… I first heard Sugar Mountain in a little hole in the wall bar on Guadalupe Street in Austin when I was probably 15 or 16 years old. Too young legally to be there but I slipped under the radar somehow since I didn’t try to buy anything myself… It was most likely an excellent cover of the song but I set out on a mission to track it down. Quite an endeavor since it was before technology was invented….

We had our 50th HS reunion a few years ago and the theme song was Long May You Run. My HS bandmates and I reunited and blow the roof off the bar. Even though it was an outdoor event. Going to do it again next month because we realized at the age of 70 we better not have every five year reunions. It's now Old Friends Night every summer on a Friday with Long May You Run as the theme song. July 12th at Crossroads in Ivanhoe, IL. Every Carmel HS grad is invited and for $5 per person we support the local Fremont Township Food Pantry. Let's fed some hungry kids and chat with Old Friends.

To have a Neil Young caliber writer/musician within my lifetime I consider myself blessed. But we didn't only get him. Carol King, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen come to mind. Also Joni Mitchell, Aretha Franklin, Kristofferson and David Bowie belong on a list of a golden age. The list is obviously too short.We are very lucky.

Very true and at the same time the fact that everybody thinks it was merely shows the power of Stephen stills art. It became an anthem because it struck a chord that everybody was feeling. Another example of that is Suite Judy Blue Eyes was written to woo Judy Collins back after she left him to screw around with a cute actor she had just met in New York named Stacy Keach but that doesn't diminish its power as *another* anthem for a chunk of the 60s. Great art works that way and Stephen stills I think is one of the most unsung artists of that generation.

This isn’t a real concert! It’s a tv show, trying to recreate the magic of performances from the early seventies. When I saw Neil live around 1982 it was in a huge stadium, all sold out. It was one of the worst and last rock concerts I ever attended in a venue like that. Solo Neil Young. Absolutely horrible music...synthesizer with flashing sunglasses singing about mashed potatoes, trying to keep up with the new musical tastes. This retro “best of” concert is really what Neil will be remembered for and the excellent Rust Never Sleeps concerts, which were something original.

It's insane how he can move your emotions and make you know that we are not alone with what we feel and he reaffirms it in such a way that allows us to be okay with some thoughts that we may thought were interpersonal but surely need to be carried through with and in society to heal this Earth and his people to a higher relationship of human relations nature relations

Amazing song writer, puts his heart into every tune, and gets more out of an acoustic guitar with the E tuned down to D than any folk/rock/singer/musician that ever graced the planet with his tunes. Love you Neil!

I also sat down there for James Taylor solo! There were so many songwriters and the music was alive! Never happen again once in a maybe 300 years!

Incredible talent! The true test is when you hear how perfectly silent that audience is in the slow piano parts and the expressive quiet songs, like they are all spellbound. He pours everything he's got into every song, like a master artist. Got me wondering if there is any artist today that can do this now? Or have the times changed too much for it? Most audiences I've seen and heard in recent years are hooting and yelling stuff out all the time. Some talk and laugh through the songs that aren't their favorites? And the damned phones held up...... Take me back 30 years please. To this concert.....

No doubt Neil Young and countless others from our gen will be somewhat drowned out by what the younger gen is doing. However, they are doing the best they can for now. I think we were lucky to have experienced our extraordinary era of music. I also think that the younger ones will wake up and realize what we already know. They've already begun to incorporate the best of what we had into their own offerings and maybe they will be just as good if not better, despite the fact that we are also leaving them some enormous problems to solve. For Americans, the biggest of these will be to realize that our government was designed to be changed for the better and that currently, we are causing more problems than we are solving and the whole world is disappointed in us because of the promise we once held. The world needs us to make some changes and get on track.

Around 1966-67 somewhere around Peterborough there was a party, maybe in a field and very informal. Everybody was trying to play guitars then but one guy with a high voice caught my ear. Later in the night I think, they all got in a big hearst and left. I was too shy then but now I can say, "Hi Neil and thanx for the visions that helped me carry on."

@@danr5462 Maybe when someone whose thoughts and instincts you once considered to be on the mark suddenly seem to be missing the mark, ask yourself who has gone astray. The genius musician with uncanny gift for putting universal thoughts and feelings to words, or YOU, the ordinary and perhaps good man who himself might really be the one who has lost his way?
@danr5462

@@oobladi4261 Neil Young is not a genius my friend. He has a poetic talent, but I know a lot of talented artists and musicians, and they are definitely not people I would listen to as an authority regarding any subject other than their art. I don't consider myself ordinary (or even particularly a good man) but I do trust my own thoughts and feelings. I would not question my own sincerely held perceptions based on the fact that someone who is supposedly a genius doesn't hold those views or perceptions. And in my opinion, if you or anyone else does so, you are on a very dangerous path. Really consider the implications of what you are saying here.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Neil about 24 times over the years. Buffalo NY was always a stop on a Neil Young tour thru the 80's,90's and into the new century.Saw him with the Blue Notes,International Harvesters,many Crazy Horse shows and all by himself,solo with guitars,harmonica,and organ.Saw the CSNY reunion at Live Aid in Philly 1985. Neil was always one of the highlights of the concert year. I'll agree this is absolutely one of his finer gigs in both song selection and sound quality. The body may not live on forever, but his music shall. He's the "band" I would choose if I was stranded on a desert isle and had to choose one artist to listen to forever.Quite a variety over his illustrious career,just about all of it great. Music for all moods. Long live Neil Young!
