Lawrence is an intelligent and thoughtful man with wisdom acquired from thoughtful observation of those who came before him. He deftly addressed the attacking questions that were hurled at him in an honest yet disarming way. I think he will be an excellent successor to the leadership of Singapore. God bless you Lawrence.

Thanks for sharing. Reinventing destiny is an impossible task because we don’t know what will happen in the next 24 hours. At best we can plan the best we can anticipating what will come and prepare our responses accordingly. The latter requires statesmanship.

Singapore into world class science and tech. don't you think you appoint the wrong candidate to oversea such a innovation and development of singapore? He is economic and finance not science and tech. Singapore should raise up another candidate well verse in the modules and fund the right human personnel to upgrade to take over the funding and policy making of our nation.

Is this an interview about China? Why China will become the next Japan? Why not Singapore becomes the next Japan? Singapore would have become the next Japan if the government didn't allow hot money to inflate the GDP. What will happen to Singapore when China makes the prices of semiconductor chips to become as cheap as roti prata? Does the Great Asia has to inform you that those wafer fabs operating in Singapore don't produce advanced chips? Half the size of Singapore's economy is sustained by low-income locals and foreigners. Even hair cutting has become low-income industry that provides jobs for foreigners such as Malaysians. We are also seeing Singaporeans competing with foreigners to do Grab delivery under the hot sun and rain to earn that S$2500 income. A HDB 4-rm flat is $S500, 000 now. A 1000sqft 3-bdrm condo is S$2 million now. Singapore still has room to use hot money to inflate the GDP? Ha ha ha!
