May is 19 years old, from New York. Last October, after a bad experience with a synthetic weed pen, she developed Depersonalization Disorder. She experienced symptoms like emotional numbness, disconnected thinking patterns, and feeling unreal.
May struggled with DPDR and its symptoms for about 6 months. She and I had a Zoom Coaching Session back in November, and I remember seeing how distressed she was at the time.
But fortunately May has since made a complete recovery! As she wrote to me in a recent email "I would love to share my story and just wanted to personally say thank you to you. I have my life back! :)"

@@Bullshitcs Listen. Remind yourself every time you question reality or have a thought about dp or dr that it’s just a thought and not a feeling. Not a thought but an idea. Ideas are fake! Every other thing you think that causes stress to you like crazy existential intrusive thoughts or general intrusive thoughts is just something you have because of ocd. These IDEAS don’t define you so don’t let them cause you stress. It’s very important to not do compulsions like searching about the condition,talking about the condition, seeking affirmation that you’ll be ok or that it isn’t something that lasts forever. Tell yourself that the worst is about to happen like "i’ll have this forever" or something like that so that your brain starts seeing the condition as something that doesn’t stress you out and isn’t dangerous for you. If you aren’t afraid of the worst cenario then the position you are in rn won’t be scary for you. As you get less and less stressed you’ll get better. Also try finding a good psychiatrist and get zoloft it saved me. It’s helpful for ocd after 2 months of taking it.

Hi guys, I have been struggling with derealization since I started smoking weed (probably with unwanted additives) in October 2023. Many of the symptoms have gone (I recognize myself in the mirror and I consider the world to be real), but I have a problem that has been bothering me since January this year. This is a first-person perspective problem. It causes me pain and fear that I see with my own eyes and perceive the world from the first person. It's uncomfortable for me that I can't see my face. The worst thing is that I have lived this way all my life and I never would have even thought that there could be something strange about it. Now it seems unnatural and limiting to me... I've had this symptom for 4 months and I can't get rid of it. It takes away my joy from life. Have any of you had this? Has it passed? How to overcome this?

Hey I’m really scared because I have some issue that was caused by weed but it doesn’t seem like what everyone else is describing as dp/dr. The best way I would describe it is when I look at the world I don’t see everything as one frame and put together I can only process individual things. Could that be derealization or is it something else entirely?

I got a question. Shaun, you told in the video its not possible to get brain damage from drugs. But I really doubt whether I suffer from DP/DR or some form of brain damage. 2 months ago I sniffed like 1,5 grams of amfetamine in two nights, I was awake for three nights and I don't feel the same again ever since. I had some episodes of DP/DR, but not like the most describe in the videos. I don't suffer from panic attacks (more like a full-time stress experience), blurry vision (I experience some snow vision sometimes though) or existential thoughts. I just feel weird and like I'm in a dream or feeling a robot. Talking to people seem unreal. I also got concentration and memory problems. And because my tinnitus got worse after the drugs relapse, I'm really scared that my brain structure changed in some way (because tinnitus is kind of produced in the brains). The episodes got less heavy, but I still feel something has fundamentally changed in my consciousness. What do you think about this?
@Dpmanual
@Dpmanual Ай бұрын
Hi Tommy, what you're describing sounds like a very typical case of anxiety and DPDR. You don't need to catastrophize that you have damaged your brain structure or changed your consciousness when all the evidence points to something much simpler: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6qWdXR8eaeMaZI And if you would like to speak to a medical professional please don't hesitate to do so. I would recommend finding an anxiety specialist if possible as they will likely be more familiar with DPDR.
