World-renowned trauma specialist and best-selling author of 'The Body Keeps the Score', Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, offers PTSD Relief Therapy at wisemind.com. Dr. van der Kolk is an internationally acclaimed clinician, researcher and teacher in the area of post-traumatic stress. His work integrates developmental, neurobiological, psychodynamic and interpersonal aspects of the impact of trauma and its treatment. His most recent 2014 New York Times Science best seller, ‘The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Treatment of Trauma’, transforms our understanding of traumatic stress, revealing how it literally rearranges the brain’s wiring-specifically areas dedicated to pleasure, engagement, control, and trust. In this series, he shows how these areas can be reactivated through innovative treatments including neurofeedback, somatically based therapies, EMDR, psychodrama, play, yoga, and other therapies. I much appreciate his works and the opportunity to express my pain. Alas, there are as many traumas as there are people. I wish there was one answer to fix all traumas. Humans are enormously complex.

Absolutely, as a psychotherapist myself, I truly believe that research and application go hand in hand - ethically of course.

I was physically, verbally abused by my big brother who once was my most dear friend in our early years, due to the fact our step mom divided and pitched us against each other to gain her 'love'. It took years for me to learn not to fall into a wrong, abusive man for the pain equaled love for my wounded inner child.

So interesting: B's son Nick came down with chronic fatigue as a teen. What cured him was imrovisational theater. I have chronic fatigue caused by HPA axis dysfunction. Commonly called Adrenal Fatigue, which is a misnomer. I am fatigued bc all my hormones are depleted, incl. DHEA. No energy for theater. What would the good doctor suggest i do?

I’ve read his book and watched videos. He rarely if ever actually shares on HOW to treat ptsd. He just rambles on and on. He never even addressed attachment or how to work with it. Beyond annoying.
