Dr. Charles Edward Booth closing out his sermon, "It's Time To Fight!" Say whatever you want or will, whooping is a rich tradition in the African-American preaching experience. It's a celebratory-like call & response type method that is used to climax the sermon! Dr. Booth is certainly in a class all by himself due to his ability to merge it scholarship & application. It's so wonderful to see his friend, Dr. Calvin Butts, behind him pushing & cheering him on. Both these men how now gone on to glory, but there legacies will live on!

As young preachers my pastor once invited me and others to dinner after the revival service at our church after Dr Booth preached, what a wonderful inspirational time we had, he diligently answered our questions as a master pastor-preacher giving us young preachers solid advice with humor, wit, and knowledge. May God rest his soul.

I feel you! I had a similar experience at the New Psalmist Baptist Church (Baltimore, MD) in the 90's. A true jewel and gift to the Body of Christ! I praise God for the opportunity to have walked with greatness, while a seminarian and young pastor, as he preached the word of God and dropped nuggets! 😊
